Protege SWC Win on TV Saturday
 

Just a reminder that Paul B.'s win at Road America is being shown on Speed Channel Tomorrow (Saturday, July 27) night. See a Protege kick some Acura, BMW, Lexus, and VW ass.

It is on at 8 pm EDT, 5pm PDT, and replayed again at 1 am Sunday Morning/10 pm Saturday night.

The Speed World Challenge is in Three Rivers, Quebec next weekend, then back to Mosport on August 16-18.

Finally got to watch it. Nice bit of racing that was!
The 3-wide Proteges down the straight was kinda funny ..
I loved hearing them talk about how the Proteges have probably the most HP engine of the bunch.

We'll have to see what happens when the Realtime team gets the new Integras (oh, I'm sorry .. RSX) out there.

Uh-oh, Realtime can feel the Mazdas breathing down their neck, so I guess they're trying whatever they can do (getting RSX's hehe).......

I just watched both of the races today (Mid-Ohio and Road America). I was impressed by Mid-Ohio, I mean there was something like 5 Mazdas in the top ten.

Got a question, the cars, how close are they to the showroom cars, like what are the limitations to the changes that can be made to it?

How Close to Stock?
 

The Speed World Challenge cars are all modified production cars. In other words, you start with a stock Protege, remove lots of stuff, add some other stuff, and race it. The basic chassis is all Protege, with a Roll Cage welded in.

Certain components MUST remain as stock components, but may be strengthed, etc. For example, the Front Suspension uses stock Lower control arms modified to take spherical bearings instead of rubber bushings, the stock knuckle basically unmodified, Racing Brakes and Rotors, Stock steering rack with sperical bearing instead of tie rod ends. The Motor and trans modifications are similar, with the majority of the components being stock, with some heavy duty parts substitutions.

The engines have a spec cam shaft and a spec compression ratio, Headers, custom intake, stock crank and block, slightly ported head, racing clutch and flywheel.
