post your 1/4 mile times!!

hey everyone i was wondering what your 1/4 mile times were. i got a 2000 dx manual and the best i ran was a 17.7

Phantom Cruiser April-16th-2003 12:02 PM

16.84 @ 81.5 *stock*

...and haven't been back since!

mazdaspeedwest April-17th-2003 09:12 PM

IIRC, 16.3 @ 86 (could have been 16.5)

ITZSLOW April-18th-2003 12:00 AM

15.1, could have run better too....

Gen1GT April-20th-2003 05:50 PM

16.3@84. Can't wait til I try it with slicks.

Loundarp April-25th-2003 10:44 AM

15.951 @87.54mph at sea level with my manual 95 EGT, the only thing done to the engine was the timing advace to 14.

TRACEY ROWE August-10th-2003 10:11 AM

16.2@84  getting better

midnightblue97 August-10th-2003 06:31 PM

Without a major HP improvement, slicks don't make much of a difference in a low-powered FWD car. I have to get the tires to spin to get a decent launch (without bogging) in my Protege, and slicks would prevent me from doing that. You'd likely just get wheel hop if you launch at high enough RPM to break slicks loose, and you'd probably bog shortly afterward.

Now, with my V-6 Altima, I can spin the wheels all the way through 1st. With slicks, that car could likely pick up 0.5 secs or more in the 1/4 mile (it runs consistent 14.9s at LACR, which would be less than 14.5 at sea level).

But if you really want to get slicks, don't let me stop you.:D

yeah slicks with out HP will brake trannys. even with slicks i want to spin just a bit so i dont shock the tranny and brake a diff. the 2 times i broke my diff it was due to not spining the wheels off the line. and just hooking up. so i just dont heat them up so much and dump the clutch at 5500rpm. to get them to spin. i get 1.9 60' times every time. the best time i have had is a 13.1 and my best MPH is 110mph

Mista if you received your engine with the awd tranny attach to it you can use part in it has i did and running on slick is going to be haven better for you then the difference it made for me. The first and second gear of the awd are higher ratio then the stock one which is great but i have to much wheel spinning at the line because of that with slick i should be able to hold the gaz pedal all the way. My best time before wa a 14.6 and 99mph but that's with a full equip accept a/c protege 93 with the audio system still in so it's not so bad i figure being my first time at the track also. On my first run i was .419 behind a wrx hatchback

mysta316 August-19th-2003 09:57 PM

my engine did not come with a tranny. but i work at CorkSport so i can get my hands on a few of them if i want to. first gear just runs out to fast as it is. i am shifting 2nd damn near 2 secs if that after i let the clutch out at the lanch. i just have some more tuning to do and ill be well into the 12s.

this last weekend i did some braket racing.
and i raced a guy that diled a 14.00 and i did a 13.36, and i was catching him at 1/8th mi. and was about 1.5 cars ahead. and about 40feet from the line i was on the brakes hard. and i lost because i ran a 13.2. that would have been 12s easy.

at the 1/8th mi. i was doing 85mph
and the 1/4 i did a 13.2@92 mph. so from the 1/8 to the 1/4 i only picked up 7mph? that just shows how much i let off and how much i was braking.

jay93dx September-5th-2003 11:17 PM

my best 1/4 mile time in my 93lx was a 16.32@85.4 mph
but i acctualy ran a 17.41 with my 93dx. I had 2.5 60 ft times with launches at 3500 rpm, but be carefull because i snapped my axle
at the track before

atila September-6th-2003 08:42 AM

I'm now at 13.88 but it was the last time i got the car on 1/4 for this summer, i broke a plug and the engine had really bad detonation problem so next summer i'll try to go lower for now i'll just enjoy the car. You seems to get an awesome lauch Mysta cause i trap at 104 mph but only get 13.88 but that's with street tire and a little help from the guy of the track (what's that stuff they put on at the line glue or something?)
