Mazda Motorsport will no longer sell parts to non-racers

as taken from www.mazdamotorsports.com front page:

"Beginning November 1st, 2002, MAZDASPEED MOTORSPORTS DEVELOPMENT will NO LONGER sell to non racers. You will need to be a registered member of our program, with current race results, to purchase ANY parts from us. You will also need to log in to the catalog, with a valid ID and password, to view our catalog."

so, if you want to buy competition parts or stock parts at discount prices, you better start taking your Proteges out to the races!!!

well, if they post the results online, once you register for an account on the site, just send them an email with links to the results that have your car in it.

that's what I did, and I got approved with no problem :)

and yes, autocross counts :)

SCCA SoloIIs have results posted on the local region's website. Print the results out and either fan them in or mail them in.

you sure about that? I remember when I registered, they specifically listed e-mailing them with VALID result URLS as an option for submitting race results. I emailed them my autocross result, and I successfully received a team support number from them.

unless they will change this policy alongside with the November 1st policy change...

When i registered, only hard copies were allowed, no URL's, no emails, just snail mail with the reg form.

BTW, autox is racing, so of course it counts :)

Note that this change is only effective when buying directly from MS. Joe Schmoe can still get any of the parts from dealers and vendors, however at increased costs.

There are many online stores catering to Mazda performance parts now, and with the new MAZDASPEED performance accessories that should be in Mazda dealerships soon, Mazda owners should be able to find the performance parts they need.

read their official eligibility rules. Apparently drag racing DOES count as a sanctioned motorsport :D

so I guess faxing them a couple timeslips, and how you finish in the event, then you'll be set :D (that means test & tune events don't count)

here's the link to the eligibility rules:
