Finally got a Harness

1 Attachment(s)
I finally got myself a harness....When i got the MX3 seats, my butt stayed much better planted than the slide around stock LX seats. Now i plan not to move at all :)

It's a G-Force H style 5pt, camlock, part# GF-C5030BK. They retail for about $120. I'll install it this week for this coming weekend. I'll also put up a how-to. I'll be ordering come snap locks and eyebolts for the install. But keep in mind, you MUST read all the safety info that comes with your harness. Proper installation is the key to a safe, safety harness.

sounds good... it's kinda unnerving when I've gone through some back roads through the mountains and wished the seat belt would be more snug.

That is, until the car rolls over crushing you to death beacause you were trapped, upright, in your seat.

I'm not telling you what to do, just what is safer. You should, at the very minimum, have a good roolbar, if not a cage if you're going to be wearing a 4-5 point harness. With auto-xing, it's not so much of a big deal, as you're not likely to roll over. On the track, it's a different story. Not to mention on public roads.

Just giving you a heads up (no pun intended).

Awesome i just bought 2 of these i would love a how too

You're going to cut a hole in your seats for that 5th belt?

Why not just get a Scroth or OMP 3-point which are actually made with autocrossing in mind.

I understand i need a bar or a cage. Leaning more towards the cage. And it would be with upgraded seats and only for track use. Reguardless im getting interested in autocrossing.

uhhh ya, i was paying attention that day :)

Yes, i will only use this for autox use and possibly a few track days. (hence why i stuck this in "Motorsports")
Which is why i re-iterated the fact they must be installed properly. They can hurt more than save if not installed in the proper manner and at the proper angles etc... shit, i'd hate to be pinned in the seat for my 2hour+ daily commute....i'd lose my fricken mind....:D

I got this harness for several reasons. It will do the job just fine.

Cut a hole in the seat....well ya, how else?

Well, I wouldn't really want to cut up my seats .. just curious.

mazdaspeedwest August-5th-2003 08:37 PM

well, it's more of a slit, than a hole. It will be stiched of course.

Bruce95fmla August-6th-2003 06:50 PM

well thank god your cutting a hole , cause if you put that bottom belt under your damn nuts and out under the rear of the seat and you hit the brakes extra hard... --->you fly forward.. aaaaggggghhhh:eek:
