best SOHC 1/4 mile times

What's everyones 1/4 mile time with their SOHC pro? Mines 16.6 @ 85 mph. That's with the stock 13" wheels and a slipping clutch. The next time I go, I will have on 15" slicks with a new clutch. I hope to get low 16's, high 15's.

I have the RX-7 VAF, which has a cone filter, and a straight through exhaust. I also dropped the ac, ps, and most of the interior.

So, you're probably down to 2250-2300 lbs, or 200-250 less than most LXs. We'll have to see how fast Braden is in his similarly stripped LX.

You need to include all that when saying how fast your car is, or didn't you notice the 14 sec Sentra in last month's Sport Compact Car?:)

And I mentioned in another thread that Car and Driver tested a stock '94 DX and got a 16.8 @ 80 mph 1/4. IIRC, the Protege LX of similar vintage ran 16.5 @ 84 mph.

I really don't see the need for slicks on a car that traps at 85 mph. I'd think the added traction/weight would just slow you down for 9/10ths of the track.

I see how you do it now. No wonder u pull lower than usual DX ets, you have thing practically set up for the strip. Good job.

'92 DX w/ magnecore ingition wires, and a dryer hose that brings cold air to the airbox w/ a K&N filter, full interior, and my heavy ass 16's got me a 17.19 @ 80.95 mph. I was powershifting that run and it promptly glazed my clutch, my next run was somewhere in the 18's

Ansel '92 DX
