AutoX: Los Angeles 12/8 - 12/9

Man, if you haven't tried autocrossing yet, you better GO! it took me forever to finally get to an event, but now it will take a nation of millions to hold me back...

I got 10 runs in on Sats practice and did the normal 3 in Sundays race. I had decent times for a 1st timer, improving with each run... I was 10 secs off Sats fastest, but only 6 off Suns fastest in my class. On Sunday i stayed pretty consistant..which is good for now. I think i came in 15th out of 28 in STS.

I need to work on my race set-up as all i did was adjust tire pressure...i learned alot in just the 2 days and i am both excited and confident that next time will be better....

I met up David Avard and Will Kalman (EGT yahoo list), both great guys and great drivers to boot. Thanks to them i now have a new found weekend addiction.....

See you guys at the next event....:D :bt:

While I was on vacation, they published the top-20 PAX. Despite finishing 5th in class, I was 19th overall (out of 153 cars + 51 time-only). No other class had more than 2 cars in the top 20. Think STS is a tight class in LA?

BTW, Darryl, you finished 5th in the Novice Class, just over 1 sec. away from a trophy.

Maybe just a tad:) David, any thoughts to doing a rebuild like Will?

Im just hoping that all my success in Florida wasnt only because i havent seen good competition. But i have been comparing my times against the G-stock guys (close PAX), and im doing pretty well there too. We'll see how i do at the ProSolo and National Tour events:)

Instead of doing a rebuild, I bought a new Altima. Seduced by all the HP. Seriously, how about a JDM engine? Gotta be cheaper than the rebuild. Too bad it's probably not STS-legal.

Are you keeping the protege to race? Any plans to run the Altima in Stock or something?:blue:

Yep, the Protege stays on as the race car. The thought of competing in a 3250 lb, 16 ft long car (w/o a LSD) in a class against CRX's doesn't appeal to me. Although at last year's Buttonwillow course, I think I might have been competitive.

I will have to autocross it once or twice, just to see how it handles, but I'm not about to buy a second set of 17" wheels and $700 worth of tires.
