:blue: thanks, I'm just hoping to finish somewhere near the middle of the pack :blue:

not sure if this is the original link or not, but i noticed with the link David provided, the cone pics were not showing up...pretty important stuff too..anyway here's the link.
http://www.tirerack.com/features/solo2/handbook.htm As for a few tips, here's what i've received the most.... learn to drive...then you will learn what set-ups work and what you need to get faster. I had done my fair share of street racing and canyon carving, but it does not even compare to the "on the edge" driving autox entails. You have never experienced this on the street before....and if you have, then you're proably a few cards short of a deck. Seat time and practice are key to improvement, enter as many events and practices as you can afford, take X runs (time only) and wait around for "fun runs" at the end of the day. Ask questions, even if you think they are stupid ones. Take advantage of course walks, note your prefered apex cones. Ask the more experienced drivers for "ride alongs" on practice days. Note not only thier course driving, but thier steering, seating postition and pedal work. (not much shifting involved, but note that too) Learn to "look ahead" when driving, this is tough your first few times, as the course comes at you mighty quickly, but will help improve your cornering and smooth out your driving. Remember, Smooth is fast. And most importantly, have fun and be safe. |
Seat time, seat time, and more seat time.

Lucky West-coast bastards .. there aren't any Solo II events around Toronto that I know of this early in the year. They haven't even posted the schedule or 2002 regulations yet.

You know what's kind of sad, nobody from the local Protege club wants to come along :(
I'm dragging my friends with me, some of them will watch, one of them will enter in his Civic, and one of them will probably run through the security just to prove that his bike is the fastest  And this event isn't part of a season or anything, it's just a friendly competition between two universities, but I'm just going to compete for myself as I don't want to ruin my university's score, it's my first time out.... When does the season start in Ontario |
In New England, April 7 is the first race for me. April 28 is the first one within an hour of me.

:( :( :(
Bad news..... :( Went to register today, and it's full!!!!! What if someone doesn't show up, can I take their spot? :squint: Or if someone gets a flat tire by 'accident'... Can't believe that I can't go, I was anticipating this for a while... should've registered before.... Might go to watch, might not.... :squint: |
Bummer dude
I'd say yes, go watch, you'll learn more than you think, plus you'll get to see how things work (registration, tech inspection, pre-grid, etc...) |
Hey... those links were extremely helpful...
And look at that... I used the search function!!! :bounce: |
