1/4 times in MP3

I just read a 5 page thread on times and how they couldn't be real.

I read this kid got a 16 flat @88

I don't know how my time would be considered.

I ran a 17.88 @88 mph in a 1/4 mile

Don't ask me for R/t and 60 Ft times, because I have lost the slip.

Do you think, it would have been a slower trap speed, with a faster time or viseversa? I have always been told the MP3 will run a 16.7 and I don't know the exact speed.

Just for shits, I have a time slip from my RX7 in the 1/8 mile
.603
1.652
4.817
7.314 1/8 mile
98.71 Speed:D

im the kid your talking about and my last time is of 15.96 @ 84,8 mph ( my tires ares different, and better 60 ft )

as for your time you should have got a REALLY BAD 60ft spinning and spinning... the more you spin the more your trap speed is high but your trap time is bad.

the better your 60ft is the better your trap time will be and your mph will be lower.

The funny part about my 88 mph run, was I was racing a 01 Protege 2.0 and he could never get any closer than my rear door and he got a 18 something time.

I agree with 5 Guardian, your E/T and trap speed do not compute. An 88 mph trap speed should correspond to a 15.7-16.1 second E/T in a FWD car. For example, my best run in my old 91 Honda CRX Si (stock except for a drop-in K&N and cat-back) was 15.81 sec @ 87.3 mph. For comparison, my best time in my old 86 Toyota Camry was 17.56 sec @ 76.7 mph.

Your MP3 should be able to get a faster E/T than an 86 Camry with 95 hp and 13" all-season tires :D No offense, but you need to work on your launch. Get your 60 ft time down to 2.2-2.3 sec and you should have a better picture of what your MP3 can do.

damn 15.96 @84 is this on a stock engine with no mods done to it? seems a bit fast for a stocker.

wanna compute my 1.6l trap speed then? 18.112 @ 80.48 mph

stripped interior ( about 80lbs saved )
disconnected exhaust after the front-pipe
THAT'S ALL

i was on 205/50R16 ( winter tires )
and my car has around 41000kms

injen cai, bosal cat-back, and zex nitrous, 55 shot. sad 1/4 mile time eh? keep in mind, i'm in Colorado... i saw a stock p5 run 18.4.

tresdos3 May-8th-2002 10:35 PM

well im about as close to sea-level as i can get:D...hopefully ill be able to do at least a 17.5 which is what wheels magazine has quoted in its testing of the 1.6l sedan...we will see ;)

nick May-9th-2002 07:41 AM

I wonder about the 15.9 time. Mathmatically for every 100lbs of weight removed = 20 HP or 1/10 sec time gains in Quarter mile.

Seeing that you haven't removed 100 lbs. and I guess removeing the exhaust could have added 10-15. based on MP3 HP gains with free flow exhaust.

If I was you, put the exhaust back on. you going to burn out your exhaust valves. Pistons engines need backpressure to be running properly and be reliable.

anyway good time in the Quarter.

In a FWD car, 80 mph should be about a 17.1 second run, +/- 0.2 second. An 18.1 second E/T indicates poor traction (unlikely in an 18-second car) or poor gearing.

Is the car an automatic? This almost sounds like an auto-tranny car left in Drive (rather then being manually shifted from "1" to "2" to "D").

I think the bp engine has a lot to offer, in my case I drive a 323 1990 hatchback with a 1.8 DOHC and the fastes I went on the 1/4 mile was 17.04 I know I can do a lot better, I just need to get my headders and a better AFM. The Hondas have a good intake and exhaust system, by not being so restrictive like Mazdas, has anyone seen the exhaust system of a Acura Integra stock? They look like if they come with headders from the factory already. I think Mazdas have a lot of potential, all we need is $$$$

jay93dx May-22nd-2002 01:51 AM

I ran a 17.4@80 with my 93dx, i have been beat by a mp3 before by about 2-3 car leghths so you should be faster than the 17.4 of my 93dx with intake, exhaust, underdrive pulleys and 12 inch subs with banpass box in the back.

ManuelGz May-23rd-2002 11:31 AM

yes you are right, I should be able to run a little better than that, I still have to check some things. I wonder if my gear box is holding me back. I get 30mph in first gear, I think 59 on second and 80 on 3rd gear, is that ok? I used to get 25 on 1rst 50 2nd and 70 I think on 3rd. What are you getting on yours?
