General: General Detailing Tips
 

Just wanted to throw out some helpful suggestions on cleaing the interior.

One) Using Armorall wipes sometimes you will get area's on the dash and doors that streak or appear wetter because of te drying time of the product
Something I learned a few years ago was to get a pair of regular ladies nylon panty hose, simple put it on your hand and get it about an inch or 2 past your wrist and ball up excess in your hand and commence to "buffing" the areas, for me it was any vinyl or plastic piece inside the entire car including rear door and sills and rear lid, ten buffed it out. Even shine leaving a high gloss look and no lint.

Two) I clean my car and rims with RainX carwash with Wax Beads. For the rims use a folded terrycloth towel or something with small tight nit thread to prevent scratching and I was the entire rim not just the surface, even the balance weight lol I know I am loser J/K. keep the wet at all times to prevent any film from forming from the cleaning product then hose the hell out of them. After they have been rinsed and dried. Get once again the panty hose
clean preferably. same instruction just go over the surface area and buff them the nylon works real well at picing up small blemishes and any film left from the cleaning product and since the thread of the nylon are so small it will not scracth or leae lint.

Three) I get an old terry cloth rag and pour armorall or whatever tire shine product i am using and pour a liberal amout on the folded in 1/4's cloth and wipe the tire down wait a few minute and do it again. from my experinece the shine seems to last longer and I have less dirt on my fender, Due to dirt building up with the Shine product and spinning off onto the fender. i usually do this before I clean the rims to prevent redoing anything.

Four) If you have ever waxed your car with a carnuba based wax and were not exactly precise in applying you might get white buildup in any cracks like where fenders meet or in the cracks on the side view mirrors it sucks and in some places are a bitch to get to. What I do is get a real soft tissue and a toothpick place it over the toothpick to prevent any scratching. I know dont eben bother with the tissue and just use the toothpick carfully. For area that are not painted like the grills I just use a real soft toothbrush and it works fairly well.

Thankyou for reading. I understand most of this is common knowledge and common sense, and i am sure there is a better way for some of ths stuff. Just thought I would share. I currently dont have the money to mod the car the way i want to and I dont really consider an intake a mod I want (MAM built block, forged everything. oliver rods, haltech EMS slightly bigger turbo etc etc) anyways I just want it look its best.

good ideas however, I have a weird cootie thing and for some reason can't bring myself to touch pantyhose.

just call them "super high performance buffing gloves"

Personally, I think any sharing of tips or knowledge is more than welcome. Otherwise, why would I be here?

I love the convenience of the wipes...but they stay so wet & shiny it's ridiculous! Sometimes I go ahead and use a dry terry towel and go over the shiny stuff so it's clean, but not blinding. The seats get really slippery too... ;)
