At that price, it is a fiberglass frame with a carbon top panel and carbon inside inserts.

All carbon would be more expensive. Most CF hoods don't even have a frame.

I have seen the CF work they have done so far and it's incredible quality. I will be getting one for my car whether you all do or not.

Here is an example of the carbon work they did on a car over the last month or so:

Yes, that's all real carbon fiber. It's just plain .

Yes, shipping is extra.

Does the EGT hood bolt on directly with no mods to the lights or anything?

And does it have a full frame?

Also, is is a carbon laminate over a fiberglass hood, or full carbon except the frame?

here's sum stuff that i just copied and pasted from the web site where the hoods are made:

* Molds are created from original car hoods in their original stock shape to assure an exact fit.
* Manufactured with GENUINE carbon fiber laid over a fiberglass frame.
* Hoods are over 60% lighter than regular OEM hoods.
* Factory latches are fabricated with steel strike points and reinforced fiberglass to ensure strength.
* Hoods use factory mounting points: no hood pins or other accessories required for installation.
* Windshield washer nozzle mounting holes are not pre-drilled
* Black and extra cost Yellow, Red, Blue, and Silver colors available
* Multi layered clear Coat for a high gloss finish
* Stock hood shape (no scoops)

Hoods are shipped to the closest GPX terminal to your home. Door to door service is available at additional cost. Black hoods (pictured) are shipped from inventory, Colored hoods are special order and require 1-2 weeks for
completion.

Carbon Fiber Black Hood
Price: $408.99 ($314.99 plus $94.00 shipping)

Select Model(Ford Vehicles):
98-02 ZX291-96 Escort/Tracer00-02 Focus98-99 Cougar

Carbon Fiber Colored Hood
Price: $508.99 ($414.99 + $94.00 shipping)
Part No: Z6001

i'm not saying people shouldn't buy your hood or anything i'm just saying that for me its more economical because of where i live

yeah the hood should fit on with no mods to the lights unless you have a 93?-94 whenever they got the slanting 323 style lights those wouldn't work but the flat lights would work.

iwokeupfrmadrea is getting the same hood, and i had the idea about a yr or 2 ago to put a EGT carbon hood on the protege and i contacted sum guy on this forum and he said it wouldn't work but now ppl are ordering them and they say they've test fitted EGT carbon hoods and they fit fine

peace dante

Once again this proves that not everyone that says, " Yeah it'll work for sure, i've tried it...uhhh then i tried it two more times just to make sure," knows what the **** they are talking about.

If you had an escort i'd say no prob go buy an "ESCORT" hood. The reason the Carbon Fiber hood for the pro is so much is because they still have to cover their expenses and make a little bit of profit on this.

Sure keep on arguing that you could use an escort hood......sure you could. Besides whats the big deal this is made precisely for the pro. This is the exact reason why no one makes parts for the pro. Everyone always complains about the price of things that are of grreat quality and have to be "CUSTOM" made for our car. BOO ******* HOO if crappy APC sells clear corners for civics for $25. Shitty quality APC can do that because they know that for sure they are going to sell enough civic corners in order to make profit. I ca GARUANTEE that not EVERYTHING was dirt cheap for hondas at first. It takes peoples interest for a company to really get motivated and really want to make something for the pro. Corporate companys dont care if some one can rice out a Protege or not, but if they can make money while selling ricey or actual performance products they're gonna' do it. I'm not trying to bash on any one here so please don't take it personally.

Hey Bizob i commend you on trying to get this group-buy thing going. Right now i don't have the money for the kit so..... i might be a maybe. If anything changes i will let you know. If the group-buy doesn't go through at all, will they still be willing to make a mold for any front bumper i want for the $600 or only on the R-34? Also how long are they willing to do this; will they still want to in 6 months? Thanks alot for what you are trying to do, and you have a great price on the kit too.

Just saw the EGT hood in that thread... I'll save my opinion for myself. Let's just say the Eastend hood would be worth the extra dollars.

As for the kit still being available, so long as they are not too busy when 10 buyers get together, they will be ready to start as soon as the minimum has been met and the deposits have been recieved.

The front can be made in any style, but they will need to have a bumper in person to copy. They can't just make it from scratch from a picture or anything. They have other styles, though: Blitz, Black Widow, Buddy Club, W-Type. They have a 2001 JDM type-R bumper they were thinking of replicating if that interests you.... All of those and the R34 are available. Anything else would require that a bumper be sent to them.
