GI: Outlaw Engineering TB and IM spacers

This is only a General Interest thread for Outlaw Engineering Thermal Spacers. They make them for every other Mazda (plus others in the future), but not ours. Ours is not even on the list to get produced. But we have to get at least 10 commitments before they consider this to be made. I e-mailed Outlaw earlier and this is what they said to me:

"Steve,

Thank you for your interest in ThermoBlok Spacer Kits. We have been developing ThermoBlok insulators for many new applications, but the Mazda ZM-DE is not currently on the list. Our prototyping work order is organized by demand and to date, there hasn't been much interest in insulators for this motor, yet. We generally request 10 commitments prior to the design, prototyping, and production of a new performance part. Pricing for a set, including intake manifold and throttle body insulators along with necessary hardware such as lengthened studs would be in the $100 or less range.

Please assess the interest for your group and let us know.

Best Regards,
Sean Morgan
Outlaw Engineering"

With enough interest and the right number of commitments, I think this would be great for our vehicles. I know the gains may be minimal, but they would still be gains. Can't argue with HP gains. No matter how small, right? Just add your name to list if you're interested and may be in the market for one of these at a later time. Lets get this thing made!! I'll be the first on the list! *Thumbs up*

i'll buy it we still need more parts for our cars.....this is for the 2.0l right???

Roddimus Prime December-31st-2005 01:53 PM

no, this is for the "ZM-DE" engine. the 2.0L is the FS_DE

steve_protege December-31st-2005 05:51 PM

But if you want to support the 1.6ers and show some interest in these getting made for us, then put your name on the list!! Then if these do go on and get made, then we may be able to have a GB for both the 1.6 and 2.0 liter spacers!!! Help us other folks out... I know it won't directly benefit you right now, but it might later on down the road.

How bout you add your name to the list as well??? It would be a start, you know?

Roddimus Prime December-31st-2005 08:19 PM

because I dont believe in these. I wouldn't want to sign up for something with them expecting me to buy them.

I'm all for helping getting parts made but when you start padding numbers you're not really helping anyone. I've seen so many GB's where people sign up on a GI thread but when it turns into a GB they back out and screw everyone up.

Alright, thats understandable. Worth a shot, I suppose!!

you could cool down your TB more by simply bypassing the coolant running through them......

don't need to worry about the spoon icing up in Florida

probably would cost about $0.79

steve_protege January-6th-2006 08:33 AM

How do you go about doing that?

Lets go people!! We have 3 interested parties over at Msprotege.com. We only need 2 more to have this made from NSN motorsports. Spread the word to help the cause.

there are 2 coolant lines running coolant in and out of the TB...pull them and t them together, then cap off where you pulled the lines

Thats it??!! Nothing else to switch off, turn sideways, wash, rinse and repeat?? Wow. Not bad at all. Have you done this or no?

mazpro2 January-17th-2006 11:32 AM

that's it, I did it last weekend, and after running the car a couple of times, the TB was actually cold to the touch, just like the intake and part of the manifold. good mod for the price, free!
