would I be a traitor?
If I sold the P5 for a MS6? I'm not looking for something all-out fast. I just want some 15.6psi of boost, AWD and a nice sedan with a sporty interior.
I'd love to buy a used Evo but I can get a new Sport model for $26.5K and I'm wondering What else can be had for sub-$28K with these features: 278hp 280lb-ft AWD 6spd manual leather interior 6-disk BOSE in-dash cd 18" forged alloy wheels I drove an Altima SE-R tonight and it was very nice....reminded me of a new SHO... FWD big V6, leather, nice interior...however the cheapest 05 SE-r is still $1200 more than an 06 MS6. |
I think so, yes!
Thouse 6's are very nice but there so dam big. If you need it for a family car go for it. |
I'm a big boy....I like a lot of room. The 3S was nice but a 6 would be nicer. Plus who wouldn't want 15.6psi, forged pistons and AWD...
|
i would love 2 get a 6 hehehe..... but damn the protege is a perfect car for me at the moment hehe... good fuel consumption... with a lil work u can get more power and who can ignore the looks hehe.....
|
I dont think so, still in the same *family* of cars...
|
Get an RX-8! :)
|
he already had an rx-8, a pretty one... ;)
|
Nah mna, that's not being a traitor. But I didn't know you guys get them in AWD there. That's wicked!
|
just the mazdaspeed 6 is AWD (that i know of)
|
Hmmm...the mazdaspeed 6 eh. I saw a catalogue for the mazda6. The ones that we would get here and well obviously there wasn't anything like the mazdaspeed 6 in it. However there are options to get the side skirts, and bumper if you want. It's too bad that I don't have a scanner.

Natey, I bought my wife an RX8 a while back and while I LOVED the car she didn't not enjoy the gas mileage that was associated with it. Also the seats are a little too narrow for our wide asses. We got 17-20mpg out of the RX8 and our fuel bill for that one car (we have 4) was 280-300 a MONTH. That's a whole other car note. We ended up trading the 8 for a Beetle TDi and it gets between 42-45mpg....MUCH better for just putting around town although it's no RX8...
Being as big as I am I kinda need the room a sedan offers. Also, a nice borla exhaust with no cats on the MS6 will sound crazy I bet. |
buy a mazdaspeed6. and if in a few years you decide to sell it, i get dibs!

i dont usually keep a car more than a year or so. The p5 has been my favorite so far and I've had it for a little over 2 years.
looks like the MS6 is being delayed to improve gearing for acceleration and power....thats a good thing but highway cruising mileage will go down...good thing for the TDi! |
wow, i saw one on the way to the civic live event in DC. it completely caught me off guard. i spotted a black mazda6 going perpendicular to us in an intersection. i noticed it wasnt a standard grille, nor were they standard foglights. then i started to wonder, what exactly did this person do to the front of the car and it hit me. it was a mazdaspeed6 & it was an awesome sleeper look. not too distracting, but bold enough to hold your attention. i wish i could do a $500/mo car payment, i think i would be in heaven!

wow, I can't believe the coincidence of this thread popping up....
today on my lunch break I went by mazda and sat in the first MS6 in B'ham. Sadly it was a GT package and I want sport only. $500 deposit later and I'll have the first sport MS6 in b'ham. Grimmy, $500 a month IS crazy....fortunatly the lease on them right now is $369/month for 36 months w/ $2500 down. I'm putting $4K down so my payment should be right about $350/month...which is what I was paying for the P5. I should have a concrete date on the arrival in 2-3 weeks. |
sw33t!

ah, i'm not usually a fan of leasing ('cept for apartments cuz a mortgage is out of the question). i usually buy to own. though i might reconsider my strategy; if i started to lease, i would get a new vehicle each time, and i get to try a variety of different vehicles. all this and no worries about expiring warranty. has anybody compared it with the legacy gt? some consumers are more attracted to the legacy gt than the mzspeed6 and me personally i've never driven either.
|
from what I hear the original design of the MS6 was slightly quicker than the Legacy GT but now with revised gearing and shift linkage I'm sure it's a touch quicker. I'm not buying it as a handler though...it's too much of a pig but its GORGEOUS in person. The interior trim is first class. The wheels are yucko though. I'm trying to swing the dealership into trading the 18's from the MS6 for the split 5spokes from the 06 mx5 special edition 17" rims....they are super lightweight and the same bolt pattern and everything. Plus they are 205's as opposed to 215's so that'll help acceleration and gas milaeg some.
damn, I'm too anal. |
i kinda like the mzspeed6 wheels, they are unique and fit nicely with the body design. it wouldnt work too well with many other types of cars. there is an air of elegance while maintaining a sporty stance. i'd take those over the 2006 civic si wheels in a heartbeat. and the interior, as far as i can tell, its similar to the mazdaspeed protege interior; different pedals and shift knob & minor details right? sorry for being nosey and all, but this car has really grabbed my attention...

it's got an entirely new dash console overlay that is a type of CF weave....dark grey metallic in color. the shift knob is unique as is the shorter shifter, pedal covers, aluminum scuff plates, sport gauges (2 big black black circles until you turn the car on), heavily bolstered seats. These seats are some of the nicest I've ever been in. Nice big side bolsters while still being soft. The rear spoiler is a lip-style, very nice. The dual exhaust outlets are larger (more oval) and built into the rear diffuser, the hood has a "power bulge" to clear the intercooler...the hood is GORGEOUS in person. pictures don't do it justice.
the GT models have a keyless entry and start feature. It's got a buisness card-sized remote that you keep in your wallet or pocket. When you have it on you (or in a purse) you can unlock the doors just by touching the handle. Also you don't need the key to start the car, just turn the knob on the dash and go. No need for keys in the car. it's a great package. I wish they'd just cut the weight down 300lbs and given it an extra 25whp. |
If you really want a new car, the MS6 is a great choice! A nice car to begin with, and youll still be in the Mazda family!
The only question I have is that, what if somebody has a problem with their WOMP kit but you dont have your car to go out and see what one might be talking about...? I wouldnt mind one myself, but no money, so you gotta work with what you have! And I like the MP3 anyway, so its not that bad...I'm happy with it, especially the handling, and I'm greatful I even have a car! Can't wait to WOMP her...(that sounds dirty) |
