Mythbusters Test

Tonight Mythbusters tested fuel efficiency between 2 identical vehicles. One had the windows up and the AC on. The other windows down no ac. The long and short of it was that the windows down car got better than 3mpg gas mileage without ac. Those extra 3mpgs could be better applied to a supercharger per se....wink wink!

Re: Time to lose the AC

I figured it wouldn't take too long to see this mentioned here!

How are you doing with the package? I haven't been able to keep up on the newest developments. I took a round-the-country roadtrip with my '02 LX Sedan. Got the speed up to 110, which surprised me since I had seen a top of 105 posted here. Felt like there might have been more to go, but had to slack off due to road conditions (D_mn trucks!). Then got a ticket in Maryland for 81 in a 65 zone. what the heh!

I had put on the Denso Iridium plugs recently, that might have made a difference.

Didn't mean to jack this thread...

Yeah, but you live in Alabama, Matty. That place invented hot, sticky summers. Putting down the windows is no substitute for AC on those muggy days! You'll show up at work soaked with sweat! Ever see the movie "The Mosquito Coast"? Your hair will look similar to those kids... and I'm talking about what they looked like near the end of the movie.

But hey, for the love of speed, it's a small sacrifice!

ROADTRIP!! for you and me both. You just got back, I'm leaving tonight! Driving up to DaveB's to finish up the last of the bracket stuff and hopefully I'll be driving back down with a blower in the engine bay. Check the thread for updated pics and possibly video this weekend!

only 110mph in a msp?? wow. I bounced mine past 130-ish on I-20 in ATL. I guess I just got a good one....then it blew up! :FU2:

usually 90-100* days with almost 90% humidity. that kind of sticky wet heat that wont evaporate off! It also doesn't help that I'm chunky. If I can do it ANYONE can. If you guys remember I pulled my ac out several months back when it was still real hot and it wasn't that bad. The worst part was getting back in the car for the first time after sitting it in the sun...once the car got moving there was no problem.

Also, like I've said before: This kit may not be for everyone. People come to me to get it and they've already made up their mind to pull the ac anyway.

I bet a sell a lot of kits to people who foolishly sink a lot of money into NA builds and can't get past 150whp. Bolting on a blower only requires you to replace your intake. Everything else can stay unlike a turbo. With a turbo you'd have to change your exhaust manifold/exhaust, intake, NA cams, etc..

a/c what's that....lol

Hey Matt - By the by, I've got an LX, not an MSP. I figured I'm ahead of the game with a NA 2.0 stocker.

Enjoy the roadtrip! I'll catchup with the postings while you're away.
