More Mazda3 News

Hey folks, here's more "this is weird" news...

You want to buy a Mazda? Buy a Ford! No wait! Buy a Volvo...

What's the difference!?

Your comments?

platform sharing is common practice.

hello and welcome to last year

I do not see much difference, they are just using Focus's skin, but its all Volvo toys underneath. It pretty typical of Ford to do this, I remember they used Taurus' skin to hide the V70 wagon.

Volvo is the novelty

I found it interesting to note that Volvo would also be making use of the platform for the upcoming Mazda3-- I've seen no one on the board saying anything about Volvo. We knew of the Focus involvement, but no one mentioned Volvo. THAT'S the novelty here, and I doubt many others knew about it, otherwise it surely would have been discussed long ago...

Sorry it's well known. And nothing from the Volvo will make it over to the Mazda I bet. They are just sharing the FORD platform.

Not too much different from the Lincoln LS, T Bird, and Jag S type (and soon to be mustang) from sharing the same platform. They are quite different cars tuned to different agendas. THe probe and MX 6 also shared the same platform, and while similar, each had thier attributes. I beleive that VW has the beetle, Jetta, Golf, GTI, and TT all on the same platform also, so all those cars are quite a bit different and share similar powertrains, chasis etc.
