Called Mazda America about Speed 3

Here is the number if any wants to confirm what a rep told me:
1-800-222-5500 option 4 then wait for a rep

Here is what she would confirm:
---------------------------------------
-It will be turbo
-It will have a Kenwood Mp3
-It will be available as a sedan AND 5
-THIS IS NOT A LIMITED RUN and will be available through the S-Plan
-Tentative summer release, though we know how those work
-Will cost less than 25k please call and express your distaste about this specific part I told her the most they could get away with would be 20k

Re: Called Mazda America about Speed 3

25k????? man for that kind of money I could get a moderately equipped v6 Mazda 6 easy.

This 25k Protege better be the end-all, be-all sports compact that performs on par with the WRX (e.g. 200+ HP, AWD or FWD w/ LSD), otherwise it's way overpriced :(

i would think if they can up the handling better than the current mp3, and increase the power more than the current mp3 (not a hard task) they will have an excelent screamer on thier hands. and if this is NOT a limited production run, but simply a high performance model, it will out sell everything in it's class. even better if they make it available to s-plan buyers! (i didn't buy an mp3 when i bought my car because of this point) i just don't know about that orange color, though.

all this, of course, is my opinion.

If its not going to be a limited edition model, I doubt that it will be available only in orange....

ZoomZoomH March-27th-2002 04:43 PM

I have a funny feeling this titanium gray color will be one of the colors for the car, here are some examples....

this, of course, is just MY opinion/speculation/rant/heresay ;)

we shall find out the real story the next couple days.... :D

i definitely hope it hits for under 20k.

Personally I think the current mp3 handles excellent! You can drive it hard into the turns and not worry about the car letting go of the road. Speaking of experience since we recently tested it out pretty extremely on the mountain roads of Va. Although if you did want to up the suspension the only thing you really could do is put coil overs on it. (fully adjustable, of course!) ..my opinion...

GOD i hope it is under 21K then maybe i will get it and kick everyones ass.

Hey hey leave poor Hunter alone he is a busy man. We have to give him respect because has been a large part of the Protege revolution.

Today Mazda announced to the international automotive media at the New York Auto Show that we will introduce a successor to the highly acclaimed Mazda MP3. Called the MAZDASPEED Protegé and based on the prototype you saw at the National Dealer Meeting in January, the new turbocharged 170-hp sport compact is the first Mazda in the U.S. to wear the MAZDASPEED label and will be the best performing Protegé ever sold. The 2003 MAZDASPEED Protegé will be introduced in the fourth quarter of the year.

This is a very exciting day for all of us and we wanted to share this news with you. You will be hearing more and more about MAZDASPEED in the months to come.
