When to Spray?
 

I wanna know if you can spray (Nitrous Duh!) right after after you take off ( when racing). Im asking because theres some dude that says you can only spray after you hit 50mph and supposedly if you spray before that, it could damage your engine. Is it true? (I dun knoe anything about nitrous so educate me):(

spray after 3500 rpm's. I do it from 1st gear to 4th.

i have a friend who sprays off the line in his civic... hasnt really had any nitrous related problems yet... but i dont suggest it... all you really do is spin out at the line when you do that....

We had a ZEX kit on our 2002 ES that was set up so it sprayed on full throttle. We armed the switch while lining up to race so it sprayed right off the line and then every time we shifted and put the pedel to the floor until the end of the race (usually up to 3rd gear). We didn't have a problem with the lauch if you had your RPM's at about 3500 when you dropped the clutch. The tires would just cherp a little then grab and go.

As far as damage to the engine....I don't know what to tell you. NOS alone is hard on your engine. We blew the engine in our Protege last summer squeezing. But I don't know if it was due to launching with it off the start or not. I do know it does serious damage to your engine if you hit fuel cut off line and are still spraying though.

personally if i through in a nitrous kit i would have a 3500rpm setup but i want to have a kill switch so that the conditions 3500+rpms, nitrous is armed, and i push a spray button. This would keep me from spraying while im on the road. Maybe even instead of a kill switch just two buttons on the wheel that have to be pressed simultaneosly.

From my personal experience..it's better not to shoot it in 1st gear...lots of wheel spin/wheel hop!!!

No need to do all that..i have mine setup..so that i have a switch that turns on the solenoids...and basically...when i am ready..i flip the switch and go to WOT...and it sprays..and as soon as i lift my foot...it stops shooting..As long as the switch is down..there is no way the nitrous will shoot...even if i am at WOT

that's the exact same setup I was planning, Chas. I figure it only takes 2/1000000 of a second to flip the switch half way through second gear, and have a second switch on the throttle body inline with the first (so it's only on at WOT). I considered a momentary switch, but it's just something else to do when youre already steering, shifting, etc. Just out of curiosity, where did you put your switch?

I Put my Switch right next to where the Foglight switch is..and the dimmer for the interior lights..that's also where i am going to mount my other switch for my bottle heater!!
