what DBA exhaust noise level will i get?
 

i gotta gtx engine and im curious if my exhaust will be loud with two resonators and no muffler. i know the turbo does somewhat help with the noise level.

There is no way to calculate that sort of thing, but I'm guessing it would be bearable.

why not just use a resonator and a multipassage muffer.

There is no way to calculate the DB level of the exhaust system you're planning.

Why two resonators? Off the top of my head I can only guess that you're either trying to be as loud as possible while still being legal, or you're thinking that the resonators will flow better then a muffler.

If you're hoping to have a system that flows as efficiently as possible then there is no reason to use certain muffler designs. Mufflers that are designed with straight-through perf-tubes and insulation flow much better then baffled mufflers. The flow difference between a straight-through muffler and a resonator (of similiar perf-tube/insulation) design is extremely small...especially at full throttle.

If you're using the correct muffler design the only performance advantage you'll have over it with the two resonators would be weight...and for the pounds you're saving it's not at all worth considering.

well basically i dont want MUCH sound, just a little to show that i obviously have an exhaust. but not MUCH as in where i hear constant buzzing on the freeway :yell: i know that turbos absorb a lot of the sound, so what would be the point of spending cash on a muffler? i said two resonators cause i dont know what one will do, so i bascially just threw 2 in.

I suppose I can only answer this one from a 'Vibrant' point of view...as I clearly have much more experience with our own product.

On your 323, assuming you're running stock HP and haven't blown out the engine into an 8 sec. car, I'd do the following:

Start off with one of our StreetPower Universal performance mufflers. Run straight pipe from the cat-back to the muffler. I'd suggest running 2.5" tubing if you're running a stock motor, 3" if you've done some upgrading to the system. Choose what-ever tip you like.

If you find the system too loud, which is possible, you can then add a resonator into the system.

For best performance toss in a high-flow cat as well.

cool man ill give it a try. ive already got a high flow cat waiting. im gonna run a 3" exhaust with a 2.5" downpipe, i plan on turning up the boost of course max 13-14. im really only looking for a 13 second car and i think ill be there in a few months. faster than that is crazy for a daily driver, and being how i get raped :inthebum: on insurance i can only afford 1 car right now.
