Turbo stuff for 3gen 2.0, 1.8, 1.6

Check it out at Wagner Motorsports Andrew has done wonders for my 1.6L we are currently running around 200 hp at the wheels with all the emission and MAP sensors removed running a FMU and AFC. Page with my setup

does he still have the specs for your 1.6 turbo manifold???

Bruce95fmla June-3rd-2003 03:09 PM

it's on his site ,,, and the manifold is only a little ovre 300 .. that's sweet for you 1.6L guys

mygreenmazda June-4th-2003 01:07 AM

It does show the turbo for the 1.6 and the 2.0 but where are the specs for the 1.8, because I'm saving money to get one.

biknman June-4th-2003 04:41 AM

E-mail Andrew and he'll help you out the 2.0 and 1.8 are basically the same.

hipcheck June-4th-2003 08:20 AM

Thanks, just out of curiosity so the 2.0 headers fit a 1.8, are there any significant perfomance gains. And one more question how hard would it be to swap out the 1.8 and get the 2.0 just wondering. thanks

macdaddyslomo June-4th-2003 07:01 PM

dont do it...that would be a ridiculous waste of money...the 1.8 and 2.0 are basically the same engine...the 1.8 is just a de-stroked version of the 2.0....however, the 1.8 revs a LOT better than the 2.0 and only gives up like 5 hp annd lb-ft of torque...matter of fact i believe a 2000 1.8 ES Pro is a bit faster thant the 2001 2.0ES Pro......the turbo kits for the 2.0 will work for your car without question...matter of fact almost every 2.0 part will work on your engine

Thanks for the help and yeah the 1.8 is faster than the 2.0 everytime I race a 2.0 I beat them but you know the 1999 are about 300 pounds lighter and so the headers will fit in my car if I get them from a 2.0 but will there be any significant gains.

i also bought the manifold from andrew, its of good quality, and he is very knowledgeble of turbo systems. the only problem with the 1.6 turbo, is the amount of room you have to work with. very limited. i know biknman has an aftermarket bumber, i have a stock one, and it has to be modified pretty heavely to run a front mount intercooler, even a small one. but other than that andrew can hook you up with just about everything you need to turbo your 1.6. i recomend him highly.

i'm only running 2lbs of boost to break in the turbo and the engine for the extra power

my pr5 is soooo much quicker and the bov is addictive to listen to

since the bov recirculates this kit won't have stalling problems as reported with other kits...since andy is a expert welder and metal fabricator all his items are custom made in his own shop...he has also been building turbos for over 10 years for various vehicles...also it comes with an external wastegate that dumps into the downpipe after the first cat to pass visual emissions

wow, I really like the looks of that setup including a primary cat. convertor.. that was one of the main things holding me back from going turbo, emissions compliance..

maybe i'm going to look into it again :D

macdaddyslomo June-11th-2003 02:22 PM

will that downpipe fit to my stock exhaust system???

yes...currently i'm still using my mid pipe so it will bolt up to the stock exhaust...i am getting the mid pipe upgrade in the next 2 weeks and it will exactly replace the stock midpipe using all the stock mounting pieces and will bolt to the stock catback and even the stock header
