Turbo Kit Info

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum and dont really know alot about the Protege's and 3. However my shop was thinking about building a turbo kit for the protege's and I wanted to ask a few questions.

Does anyone make a turbo kit yet?

If not does anyone want a turbo kit?

Does anyone know the limits "power wise" to the protege motor?

And if anyone has any more information that might help me with building a turbo kit please let me know.

Thanks again for the help

Yes, there are several turbo kits out ranging from budget kits to full on race kits. Stock protege engines do not handle boost well at all. usually about 250whp is all they'll hold.

If you're serious about building FI kits for the mazda community you should probably look into buying a new Mazda 3 (2.0L or 2.3L) and boosting it. the new ford duratec engines used in them are very boost friendly.

The main obsticle will be handling the ecu duties. Mazda ecu = junk. Also, price is a huge deciding factor for protege/3 owners... we didn't buy porsches so prices have to be competitive for you to stand a chance.

welcome to the forum.
