turbo 3rd gen ,, but it's kinda odd
so I was surfing on www.msprotege.com and saw a link to this Turbo Protege from Canada.. turbo pro . But the thing is .. Why is his dyno hp curve look so weird.There is like a 30 something hp jump from 5k to 5.5k
he has 4 extra injectors on the intake pipping shooting in the intake many ... oh well look at the pics for yourself.. Bruce |
what the hell he has as much horsepower at 5k as a stock protege
you'll notice his torque and HP graphs cross at the same point as they should which makes it more believable maybe his boost controller is set up to just do a max dyno run not regular driving ahh yes maybe he didnt want to bust the tranny or clutch so he made it only kick in at high RPM |
perhaps hes just dumpingtoo much fuel and it finnally leans out??

That's exactly what he told us on club protege quebec. He wanted to be safe and went for a max hp run so he flooted the gaz to prevent any detonation on hight boost which cause that bizarre hp and torque curve down low rpm

Well he just blew is engine today. He posted it on clubprotegequebec, he was going hight speed while ajusting the air fuel mixture at 15 psi, the engine blew and took the rad with it. 15psi on stock internal seems quite hight

This is why I think boosting the protege engine is a bad idea. Its too weak and NO ONE can get it managed correctly.
Everyone keeps saying "It just takes proper management" NEWS FLASH!! NO ONE knows how to properly manage the engine. So as far as I can see, it's pretty much impossible to get big/decent hp. Well unless you go forged everything, but you might as well get a faster car and work from there. Honestly, I don't even think Perfwork's creation will last.... Its funny, but the only protege turbo engine to NOT blow are the 1.6ls:D |

On the other board (www.protegemp3.com) a guy by the name of perfworks is finishing up his piggyback that can control fuel and timing. It'll go for ~$700. I hear he's just finishing up the maps now, so there's one tuning answer. The HiBoost kit comes with a Haltech unit that controls fuel only, and that turbo kit goes for about $4000. Check out the Forced Induction forum there, as all of the kit makers post their regularly and you can get some info from them.
He's also working on an NA application for his piggyback (along with intake manifold, throttle body, etc) but thats a different topic. Chris |

for 800 bucks , you might as well spend the extra 200 and get a full stand alone:rolleyes:
