tripoint turbo
 

anybody know anything about the tripoint turbo? installation, reliability, and any other information would be great.. thanks

The tripoint turbo has been ditched.....aerodyne...the type of turbo they used went out of business. They may have a coupel kits for sale but if your turbo goes out your SOL. and with a aerodyne unit it wouldn't surprise me go to www.spool-turbo.com for in my opinion the best turbo kit avaiable for the protege.

I called them yesterday, aerodyne has gone out of business and they're looking for a replacement. No kits are availible as of yet. The guy, don't remember but he's on the site, said that they're probably going to a garett...

Hey guys i work at a place called matrixengineering in portland oregon, and i aquired the tri-point very early because of the company i work for, the aerodyne to works great, no problems yet, but we had a contract with tri-point and we are suppose to recieve a set of 5 late march, and on our contract in states that the turbo kits will come with aerodyne turbos, they called only two days ago and told us they are going to move to garett t3, of thier new hybrid, but if they build them with thier hybrid they have the plastic apillar inside and not great housing, their normal housing on the t3 are great, but i have bad news about 200 to 300 dollars more. But mine works great, run high 13's real quick.

Once we get those from tripoint we will dyno and post on our website www.matrixengineering.cc, unless tripoint goes into breach of contract.

Chdesign, what do you run. Have any problems with you exhaust cam, mine has such a high lift gas mileage much less, but thats cool. If anyone intersted in great turbo kit try BEGI, 190 horses, 400 ft/lbs of torque, no joke. Can anyone say Qualfie

I ran low 15's with the NA setup i'm turbo again now though. THe BEGI kti is now the Flyin Miata kit. They put about 168 whp down which isn't bad the Spool-turbo kit puts down 198 whp at 6.5 psi though much better i think. I ran a 14.7 with a 50 shot with the NA. I'm should be running low 14's into 13's with the new turbo setup though. Check my sig for more info....i'm schetchy on the Aerodyne turbos they have had a bad track record in the past i woudl feel much more comfy with a Garrett unit. I've had no problems with the exhaust cam though. I need to install the motor mount inserts i have right now wheel hop is a pain in my ass.
