tired of high output

Anyone else here just tired of people wanting 200psi boost, 2000hp gains? I really think its hampering the rest of us cheapos that just want 40 more HP. Forget all the intercoolers, and expensive kits.
Instead of a company making 1 or 2 kits, with precision tuning, give us a cheap kit with low boost, and some extra kick.
Why are there so many hondas with turbos, BECAUSE THEY ARE CHEAP AND EASY TO INSTALL AND TUNE. You can buy 2.5K kits for other cars with low boost, and a simple install. You guys with 200psi boost are killing us. How about a small supercharger?? Not all of us are prepared to change clutches and spend countless hours tweaking the system.
Oh well, I've said what I wanted....

Heh Mine was under $1200 intercooled, full setup.

Ambient Jul 1, 2002 08:32 PM

Yup, but basically I learned you can do a cheapo kit for right around $1000. That's just for parts, if you can do the labor yourself, or have friends, then you're straight.

yeah, flame me if you want, but people who are not happy with what's available and want 15 exhaust systems on the market and 600 hp turbo usually don't buy anything after all.
"I don't want (insert company name) turbo because I want(insert company name) to make turbo" means "I have no money and my only mod is single gold plated wiper conversion"
I have noticed that guys who have really modified cars are very subtle about it-work on cars instead of spending time on message boards complaining about lack of aftermarket for Protege.

I hear you man all I want is a 30 - 40 HP increase and a low pressure turbo would do the trick. But I cant justify $3,000 for 40 hp. But who knows maybe I would give in if I found the right kit. One can only dream.

I do think the aftermarket is small (not poor) for the Protege, ofcourse think about the fact that the 3rd Gen is only since '99 dosen't help either.
I would like to add some power to my car and I haven't spent any money on it unless I would be able to carry it over to (whatever) mod in the future. I have a K&N with custom intake tube, and a cat back custom exhaust (larger pipe, larger resonator and noise maker...I have trouble calling it a muffler because it dosen't!)
I find that the worst part of it is the emissions restrictions imposed by the government. Any mod I've looked into is going to increase the chances of failing a test, and therefore would be tossed so I could renew my plate sticker to get to and from work the next day! Sux, eh!?!

If you really want to spend less than 3 or 4 grand for some more horse power, try a new engine, that is what i'm going to do. I know for my 95 pro i can get a whole engine set up for about a grand installed. Just an option.
Oh and if someone complains about how small the market is for their particular pro doens't mean they don't do anything to their car. I hate the fact that it is really hard for me to find anything for my car, but i've already done a lot more than change my whiper blades. It just means that i have to work that much harder to do anything to my car and most of what i do no one esle will have cause i designed it myself.

Just wondering-what have you done and what "exclusive " parts have you designed yourself? What engine is in your 95?

Off topic-note to moderators-Can we make it mandatory to let other people know what engine your Pro has? Lack of this info sometime defeats the purpose of replying to posts.

sadly just the 1.5L that is why i'm going to drop in a better engine (the 1.8L to be specific) that way i will have my hp to start 122 and can get a turbo ect for it. As for custom stuff, i've only had it for a few months but i'm doing some custom interior lighting, wiring myself, creating switches, stuff like that, i also currently making a front lip type thing from fiberglass (doing this myself, not someone else) also trying to get custom turn signals and rear lights (not altezza something entirely different). I also designed a hood that i haven't seen anyone else have and i have a guy that is going to take an old hood and put together what i designed. There are a few other things i want to do also. No need to get snippy either, geez.

I have 96 with 1.5 liter on the driveway-my dad drives it and I take care of it.
I am edgy-it's friday night and I haven't had a single drink yet :)
