Test pipe w/ O2
I just put in my NOS I'm ruinn a 50 shot on a auto 2000 ES. I want to put in a test pipe but I'm not sure were to mount the O2 and if it will put my check engine light on. Any body done this before. I don't want to hollow out my cat because it will crate turbulance in the exhaust.
Thanks Tim |
Did you put a NOS (Nitrous Oxide Systems), or like Zex or sumpin like that? Just trying for clarification.

you probably want to mount the O2 sensor in the same area on the test pipe as it is mounted with the cat. O2 sensors are heat sensitive. So, mounting too close to the engine will damage the sensor.

I got NOS Nitrous system from Holley. Do you guys think my check engine light will come on? If I mount it the same distance away? And just a thought since there will be no cat any more should i mount it alittle further away. Maybe I'm wrong but dosen't the cat sheild the heat from the O2 alittle so if I were to put it at the same distance the O2 would get alittle hotter then with the cat in place. Does that make sence or am I to paranoid.
Thanks Tim |
without your primary cat you will probably get a CEL. if that happens, you can get a CEL eliminator for cheap (less than $10).
If i were you, I'd buy a header (search the messageboard) and just put the O2 sensor in the fitting on the aftermarket header. |
ok
What do you mean by CEL? And who makes a header on this board? Is there more than one person an who makes the best one? Thanks bro

I don't wont to argue but the 02 doesn't care about the temp in the exhaust example the ford escort lx has the 02 about 4" after the head. It needs heat to work normally that why there's four wire 02 there heated o2 to get to the working temp has fast has possible
