Stock bp internals

How much boost can the stock bp internals run without breaking??
I remember a while back Braden had about 30 psi, (I'm pretty sure it was on stock internals), and couldn't go higher only because of the turbo not being able to put out much more than that.

Mazda in general has some perty good internals. I have seen a GTX (swap) pushing 340whp on stock internals, keeping in mind he had all kinds of other things done too (fuel, big turbo, P&P, 3", ect....).

So close to 400 :( As far as i can tell the bp block is very strong with the right tuning it can make ungodly amounts of power The 30 psi push was on a EGT with a gtx motor and GTR turbo He hit 325 HP with a haltech fuel upgrades and braden tuning it ...Jon

I think he couldn't put any more out because he had a stock gtx head which is very restrictive the NA heads are better. Braden is selling a BPt and ecu for 1300 not shipped right now. ..Jon

How different is the BP for the 2nd gen pros from the engine of the bpt? if there is a huge difference is it just in the components that are used and can you just buy what is needed to improve that bp engine?

Also, If you go to the junkyard and pick up a SOHC block they have a 8 to 1 ratio. Get it clean up and replace the rods and new seals. SOHC is also a BP block in the 90 to 94 proteges. When you put the Head of a DOHC on the top of the block it raises the ratio to 8.25 to 1. Then you can turbo the hell out of it. I would redo the head and rplace the valves with tit. ones. New seals as well. I did this to one of my escort gt and I ran 11.4 @ 115mph at 20 psi. I also had the gearing from a mx3 v6 g series trans axle.

My other escort gt was a ALL MOTOR which ran 13.8 with cams regrind and head work.

You sound like a hell of a driver... Seriously, I'm not BSing...

That's very interesting about the SOHC block with the DOHC head. I had no idea that the SOHC and DOHC blocks were different.

uhm you have to C)'s and one is blank, did you mean e) and forget what you wanted to say?

PinkMX-3 March-28th-2003 03:19 PM

e) all protege LX's have MX-3 V6 gearsets, cause they're identical.

Woah, woah, woah....

a) you dont need or WANT that low compression on a BP to get good results. 399.6whp was done on 9.5:1 compression.

b) You did NOT run 11.4@115 in ANY Escort GT, for the simple reason that a FWD running 11.4 is trapping a LOT higher than 115. HIGH 11's equals out to low 120s mph. You're off the pace.

c) You didn't did NOT run 11.4@115mph in a BP only boosting 20 lbs of boost.

d) And I want specs on your supposed All Motor Escort.
c)

Yeah I was wondering about that SOHC block DOHC head thing with turbo. I have heard people say that the lower 8:1 compression would be better for the turbo than the 9:1 compression. My car is pretty much screwed internally... haven't looked at it yet but I'm sure I'll need new pistons. I was thinking about swapping over an SOHC block but it just didn't make since to me. Any opinions?
