has anyone checked this out. www.spool-turbo.com. its not a complete kit it comes with garret turbo, steel braided lines, and the exaust manifold. what eles is needed to put a complete kit together? im really thing about this piece together kit.

main thing i see that you'll need is something for fuel enrichment,and more importantly a DOWNPIPE for your exhaust!

If you're pretty well mechanically inclined, it may be worth it, if not the install price will quite a bit. The downpipe will have to be custom, and you'll still need (or at least want) an IC of some sort. Plus then you'll need custom plumbing for the IC and Intake.

I don't think you'll need any more fuel, the injectors should be able to handle it to a respectical ammount. The BEGI kit doesn't use anything in terms of fuel, right?

in reference to that are the injectors on the 2.0L bigger than the 1.6L...and if so are the interchangeable???....if so then they should make for a good swap when I get the 1.6L turbo kit from Barely Legal Transplants...hurry up Braden!!

If ya go crazy you could end up needing alot of stuff:

1.) turbo
2.) custom manifold
3.) downpipe
4.) larger diameter exhaust piping
5.) Intercooler
6.) Intercooler piping
7.) Rising rate fuel regulator (for some applications)
8.) blow off valve
9.) oil line tap
10.) oil line return to oil pan
11.) large diameter air intake (super magna flow, K&N, etc.)
12.) Haltech (or other ECU piggyback/replacement)
13.) boost controller (mechanical spring/bearing or digital)

am I forgetting anything? You'll need lots of other litte bits and peices to make it all fit. Since Corky and Brett are doing custom jobs around the $3500 area I would go with them.

I dont see how you could put together a lasting setup and tune it correctly w/o all this stuff and do it for less than $3000 with used turbo's and homemade parts-but if thats your thing and you have the tools/time more power to ya.

I think the only bitch is plumbing your water lines to the turbo. I don't think there are water taps on the front of the motor.

You don't have to, it's a oil-cooler turbo, right? :dunno:

you "can" water cool it if you want even if it is solely oil cooled. just T off the cold water out from the radiator and T it back into the hot water return. But yes-all turbo's are oil cooled however some people water cool to add reliability and longevity.

But since I have the Spool ITS kit, I'll chime in here. Yes the kit from BEGI is going to be complete and come with install instructions and everthing. But, the manifold they are using for their kit will NEVER equal that of the manifold in the Spool kit. I will have more power from my turbo set up that the other kits will never be able to touch. Why you ask, because the Spool kit has a tubular manifold. There is no where where the exhaust gas pulses can cross each other. The spool up time will be much faster with the spool kit. Not to mention that it just looks much better. It looks like a big knot sitting on the engine block. Here is a pic of mine.

I'm piecing together a water/alcohol injection system. I should have it installed by the end of the year. My total setup has cost me about $4000, I wanted to stay below $2000, but I figured what the hell and went all out. I look to get about 190 to 200hp from 8psi daily driving, and 210 to 230 at 12psi for the dyno. This is at the wheels of course. The 230 at the wheels would mean around 260 to 270 at the crank!!!

Oh yeah, one more thing, for anyone in the DFW area, I'll be in the Mazda Booth at HIN on Aug.3rd if any of you want to see my car.

Reviving this very old thread, I am interested in getting this starter kit.

Please fill in the blanks on what I need to purchase, I'm not looking at going all out, just want to get this kit and get it working.

I know alot of people who can help me do the install.

the kit comes with turbo, oil lines, exhaust manifold.

I would need a downpipe + plumbing for the intake.

hey, you might as well just throw down a lil more cash and get teh stage 1 or 2 kit. i mean, your gonna end up spending just as much on a downpipe and intake piping, and all the other stuff you will need to piece it together, plus all the money you will spend on labor to have the downpipe made will be rediculous. just get the stage 1 and save yourself the trouble.
