oil cooler or not?
 

are oil coolers benificial? even for a turbo.
I live in south florida and it can get a little sticky here for 7 or 8 months and was wondering if its even worth it to install.

coolers are beneficial. greddy has some great kits. i would first put a temp gauge to see even if you do or do not have a problem. all my cars have 'em. oil temp should be abour 180-195. upto 210 is acceptable. if above 220, you definately need a cooler, or maybe even have a problem.

If you have a Mazdaspeed, then you already have an oil cooler. Just look under your oil filter. There should be a coper-looking cylinder. As a matter of fact, I bought one of these, and installed it on my boosted MP3. It taps directly into your coolant/antifreeze lines.

do you have a part number for the oil cooler?

Oil coolers are always a good thing, under any conditions. Even if your oil isnt getting very hot it can still benefit by being cooler. Ive found that oil coolers from late 80s early 90's turbo desiel volvos are absolutely great. They are just a good as a greddy kit but can be purchased at a junkyard for next to nothing.

I would use it not only does it cool the oil but it will help the motor last longer.

Remember the oil cools down the pistons and stuff internally, so, its the fluid that its in direct contact with heating parts that may fail.

So keeping it colder will help A LOT.
