Oil and coolant lines for BP turbo
I went to my mazda dealership and got some info on the coolant lines for my 91 GT. The coolant supply to the turbo is already on my block...correct? Then to return the coolant I just take it to the heater core line? But for the oil supply and return I am a bit lost. How/where do i do this? Thanks so much.

u have to tap a hole in the oil pan
|
Does it matter where these holes are? I think i heard once that one has to be higher than the other so when the car is off the "used" oil can run out so it does not cook the turbo. Correct me if I am wrong.
|
it has to be near the top of the oil pan(above the oil), so the oil can freely come back into the oil pan
|
if the engine is 95 or newer BP, there should be an oil feed tap already in the block. you might have to make one in the pan for the return, though...
good info here. and here too http://members.aol.com/solomiata2/Ma...ifferences.jpg --sarge |
I have seen that picture before. I am really confused as to the view of it though. Let me ask one more question. In that artice it shows two holes for oil. I dunno if im right but I think I heard that there is also a coolant tap on the block too??? If anyone can clear it all up it would be great.
In the article that Jess wrote about how to turbo the BP engine, he states many sizes for his oil lines. Are these the ones that will bolt right into the block, so all I have to do is find some rubber hose? Im gettin really excited about it all. Manifold has been ordered, turbo to be ordered friday. Will keep you dudes posted. Scott |
Hopefully this is useful...
http://www.bpt-racer.com/albums/bp26...%20(Large).jpg See on the far right, where there is a copper washer? There was an oil line running to the turbo from there on this GTX engine. This would be toward the front of the car, the exhaust manifold is removed in this pic. As for where the return went?... *shrug* ... I don't remember how everything went... |
Ok, I got it. Both are right next to eachother. But which one is which? Would the top be the feed, and bottom me return? If anyone can help me on the coolant lines it would be great. Thanks so much guys.

well the hose that's in the pic is rubber. the one where the copper washer was metal. if that means anything :dunno:
|
Eh, i guess i can figure i out. Any clues on the coolant lines?
|
i'm late lol .... where are the coolant lines on the block for the turbo

This should answer all your questions. The top is the coolant, the bottom is the oil. The oil line is connected with a banjo type connector.

Hmmm, where'd you get that diagram? :)
|
Ok, so we have oil supply, coolant supply, oil return, but where does the coolant return goto? Thanks alot for the help guys.

The coolant return T's into the metal hose coming back from the heater as shown in the diagram below. I have also included a scan of the oil path.
