Miata Turbo and 1.8l vs 2.0L

Ok i did a search and can't find anything about this. Why would a turbo for a 1.8L Miata not work on our 99-00 Proteges? Or even a Supercharger?? Also if anyone makes a turbo for a 2.0 (the MP3 or 2001+ cars) would it work for a 1.8L.(And the 1.8L i refer to is the FP. As i believe that is the engine in our cars.)

so does that mean any turbo itself would wor? i just have to make my own turbo manifold, piping, and mod. my ECU.

To address the first part of your question, the other posts are right. The 1.8L engine in the Miata shares nothing with the 99+ Protege engine. Take a look under the hood of a Miata and you will see what I mean :)

To address the second part of your question, yes, a turbo/supercharger kit for a 2.0L should theoretically work on the 99-00 1.8L. The engines are basically the same except that the 2.0L has a longer stroke and a slightly different ignition system.

Show me a car with a functional Knight turbo system.

Somebody on another mailing lists I used subscribe to tried to find just *one car* and was unable to do it. Considering that Mr. Knight advertises turbo systems for just about every vehicle with an internal combustion engine, this is very telling IMHO
