Mazda 3.0L supercharger

Just a little heads up. Adam and I (the new machinist) will be working jointly on a new centrifugal blower for the 3.0L duratec Mazda6's. It should also fit the tribute/escape without much modification. If it goes smoothly we may try to modify it for the Fusion/500 as well.

I don't want to give away and specifics but I'll just say this:

Revolutionary new mounting system unlike anything ever before used on a car

internal step-up drive of 4.1:1 (instant power at any rpm) powerdynes is 3.1:1

capable of 20+psi with only a pulley change

self-lubricated with no tapping of engine oil

new "T5" model with more features for longevity and reliability

I don't want to get too into specifics just yet but I'll be flying out to California for a few days once I've finished up the final design of the Protege kit. We're actually hoping to start, finish and have a kit available for testing within a week of my arrival. Price to be set upon completion but expect about $3999 with an estimated 350whp (engine allowing)

I'm SO excited to show off the new stuff but I don't have permission just yet.....just want to whet your whistle with a little info....This will be unlike anything you've ever seen before.

Sounds like some good stuff! If only my mom had the 3.0 liter 6, then I could make her WOMP it! lol So is the Pro kit getting the T5, and/or the revolutionary mounting system? :D

macdaddyslomo February-27th-2006 05:11 PM

why would you need to modify it to fit in a Fusion ?? It's just a 6 in Ford skin

Roddimus Prime February-27th-2006 06:01 PM

the body panels and clearances are different. What we'd do is start with a standard 6S kit and see what needs to be modified to fit.

Scotty, nope. The kit I'm using is designed for the standard mounting system.....let's just say the obsticle of placing the SC in the proper location will no longer be a problem anymore. This will open up a LOT of other models to boost that thought there was no room for a blower under the hood.

"and that's all I have to say about that." [/forrest gump voice]

Dude, have you posted this over on Mazda6 Club? I'm sure they would all cream themselves to hear that there is a SC in the works for the Duratec 30.

I'm not saying anything else about it until I get further into it and see what is possible and what isn't.

just FYI, the Ford Taurus SHO uses a 3.0L Duratec block and is extremely capable of handling boost. 12psi from a vortech on an SHO makes about 425whp or so.... If the 6S motor has similar internals this could be very dangerous for just about anything else on the road.

Yeah... I think they are fairly beefy on the inside... I think the weakest link are the pins... But I can't remember for sure.

Well at least I can say this; when you do post, you will have something definite, and that is always good, because there are a lot of people that say they will do something, and then flake out.
