Back from dallas with more new of the 2003 pro!
Well its been a hectic few days since the 1st of Jan. I got back at about 11:30 from Dallas and came home to find my Pro all turboed up and finished while i was gone. I asked my dad when he did it and it turns out he decided to send my car out. Well anyway.. the 3rd was my b-day so off I went to the track and tested up my new turbo speed. Well sorta test out my new found horsepower. I ran a 15.8 with 8 PSI because i granny shifted at 4K since there are only 256 miles on my car. I'm hoping for a little more into the low 15's to high 14's by the time everything's settled in.. I don't like how the shop did my turbo though, you can't really see it.. somehow they found room to hide it near my battery. Oh well.. I'm hoping to just go out next thursday and blow the crap outta the turbo and take it all the way to redline and see what I've got.

How on earth did the put the turbo near the battery?
Exhaust piping all the way over there wouldn't be that effective... |
Hey foxy! haha yea one of these days.. I'm kinda embarrassed right now since I have to drive like and old lady but once it's all broken in I'll give you a ride.. hehe... I'm hoping to be running about 10 PSI or so. To handle fuel management I have a few options.. I can either switch ECU's with the Mazdaspeed or I can go the route of converting an RX-7 turbo. I've been talking to Turbo motorsports of Tampa who is the one who did all of my work. I called and asked why they put it at the battery and they said that if i wanted a large intercooler its the only option really because there's no room for the tubing in our cars otherwise. I didn't ask questions as I already ran a 15.8. I bought my kit from Flyin Miata by the way, so i know its good, my dad just wanted somewhere representable to put it in for me. So the guys at Turbo Motorsports say I could easily get about 12 PSI out of it but it would take a little engine work too. I'm waiting for estimates on that and then I'll go from there. But with granny shifting a 15.8 isn't bad. My friends Integgy GS-R only ran that.

Get some pics up because those two things don't fit together for me. The turbo sits right off the manifold between the motor and the radiator. To put the turbo way over where the battery is, would mean all kinds of insane piping to begin with. As for the MSP ECU, you'll want to get the same injectors from the MSP. And, it won't let you boost over 10 psi. The FM Protege kit is good for 8 psi tops...You'd have to do some serious revisions to the stock FM kit to see 12. |

lol.. lemme figure out how to work the digital camera i got for christmas and I'll post em.. it is a pretty sick looking pipe set up.. but you gotta figure the pipe from the intercooler if i get a big one will be shorter to the turbo if it is mounted where it is.. i dunno.. i'll post pics cause i don't know much about turbos and I'm going along with what they said...

Dont get me wrong, I am not questioning your setup I just have never seen a turbo in that location on a Protege. I am sure it is really trick, like a Supra setup. I just want to see it. Figure that camera out:cool:

I know no one's questioning me. I have talked to my friend who recently added a turbo to his prelude and he doesn't get how they did it either. Haha.. But I'll have pics soon!
