Answer to ALL FMU questions

OK everyone wanting to make their own turbo kit. An FMU WILL work with our Proteges..we do have a return fuel line despite what many people say and it is vacuum regulated. Look on the fuel rail on the left side of the engine if you are facing it. Find your fuel pressure regualtor and there will be two lines on it. The smaller line is the Vacuum source and the other larger line is the FUEL RETURN LINE!!!!! So yes it can be done. Although all of our fuel connectors are ford type connectors...meaning you will have to convert your line to stainless to be completly safe. You could hack the stock line and clamp it but I would not suggest it. The ratio needed for our cars is 10:1 if you are running a mild boost situation like I will with 5-7 PSI. You stock injectors will be fine under that low of boost also. If you don't want to go FMU go Additional Injector www.sdsefi.com About 3 times as much and does the same thing you just have more ccontrol over it. Hope that answers everyones questions about FMU's and our Proteges.

Where did you arrive at the 10:1 requirement? Not trying to be a pain, just questioning. Thank you for the info!!

How is the kit coming along? I'm going to be welding up my header this weekend. Hopefully I'll have some pics by Monday

I got the 10:1 by talking with both TKT and Bryan Pendlton on fuel requirments. They both have charts that show fuel needs for the f engines. Through these charts it was determined a 10:1 would be suffecient. If you want to go very rich and go down from there do a 12:1 and have a couple recal. kits on hand.

Oh yeah the kit is going along slow I have had a few things in the non-Protege world come up and I haven't had time to work on them....right now I'm actually busy polishing my NOS bottle then sending it back to NOS to get relabled. I am goign to try and get my fuel fittings done sometime next week and I am going to fab the charge piping hopefully Saturday but I am going to get soem piercings done Sat night so I can't have my car in pieces either.
