2001 ES Turbo *PICS*
Here's the link to the Turbo Project going on my car by this shop in my area (the ones who did the steering column gauge pods) We're using a Garret T3/T4 hybrid. The manifold is new, and is being mass produced for the turbo kits. We've got the oil and most of the other lines ran. We're waiting on getting a downpipe fabricated and some other tubes.

Looks great, I can't wait till it's finished! It won't be too hard dragging those 19s around anymore :wee:
|
I really hope you don't plan on using that nitrous with the turbo.....I did....once...i heard crack crack ping ping....on a 40 shot.....bad detonation.....my advise....take off the nitrous until you have internal work done.
|
a T3/T4 on a FS engine?
man, I hope you don't plan on running too much boost. :) |
Inimical knows what he's at. [hopefully. lol]
Looking real good man. More pics when you've got it done please. |

    ....me want sooooo bad.....
|
heyyyy... i know u, didnt u come out to towers once a while back, before u finished the install on your nos kit,
i'm in INTENSE PERFORMANCE. i belive u had 19's and coil overs and maybe a pipe. anyways come by again -Jason |
It looks pretty early in development so far. Are they planning on maintaining the stock primary cat? It doesn't look like it from the pics. Are there any hood clearance or heat problems with the hood? The turbo appears to be mounted very high in the engine compartment.

Are there any hood clearance or heat problems with the hood? The turbo appears to be mounted very high in the engine compartment. Invincibleredp5, I should be back out to Tower Shops next Friday. Yeah, that was a while ago I stopped by there. I finished the NOS install a few days after that and been running with it since. Now I took it off and sold it 'cause of the turbo and what not. :p PM me next week and I'll meet you all up there if you guys wanna take a look at the turbo. (Maybe I'll even let you test drive it :D LOL) Bring your friends! hehe... |
Aren't they going to need some time to tune the system? I figured the tuning would take as long or longer than the parts devolopment. I'd be worried about reliability without a decent amount of time being spent on tuning and testing.
|
i wont be able to make it next week due to the fact i'm in Canada. but i'll pm u so u can meet the guys out there, they will def. be out there.

definetly looks great. Are you saying they will have that kit, with intercooler, BOV and all the other goodies for about $2500? Thats a great price. How much boost are you planning on running?
|
azrakain, the start up kit will be around that price. The extras (BOV, I/C, etc.) will be available individually or together as stage upgrade packages. The startup kit will produce 6psi.
Eric F, of course they'll need time to test and tune, that's what I'm for! :p I get the strenuous task of having to drive all over the east coast in my Turbo Protege, putting as many miles on it as I can, and seeing how well it holds up against hot bikini-laden chicks laying all over it and posing for pictures at various beaches  |

when would your custom kit be ready for sale and any timewait on it. oh one more "?" would it run any its stock ecu ?or any mods on it? thanxs |
rosendo, the kit should be ready for sale in approx. 2 months (I'm just guessing here). The 1st kit is done, the only thing left now is to test and tune the product. As for the ecu, the Stage I kit will run with the stock computer. If anything, I think they might use a rising rate fuel regulator. Other than that the stock system won't have any problems handling 6psi.
If anyone would like more information on the turbo kit, or any other FIC product, you can reach them at 954-969-7916, or just post here and I'll do the best I can to relay your questions. Chris :D |
Yeah that's a good price with the basic system you get.
And 6 PSI is not bad at all to give the car oomph power :D. I'm still going for the BEGI kit though. A little more expensive but way more power potential. I'll be sure to plug your kit though. That one is still great for most people. And it also looks like a nice clean setup. |
Looks GREAT! where did u get the short throw from?
|
I like that log style turbo manifold. Looks like a great kit.
I have a question about the gauge pod... Does it limit the tilt of the wheel at all? |

No, it doesn't limit anything really. It's pretty factory-like. FYI, if anyone wants a pod with a gauge already in it let me know and I'll get you a good price. |
How are you guys going to control the fuel, just wondering, also I got the guage pod on the steering column. Hopefully it will be here on friday.

I have a 1989 Mazda MX-6 Turbo and the amount of heat generated by the turbo is tremendous. I am running 14 pounds of boost. This turbo is buried way down in the engine compartment and still created some serious heat. How will will keep from blistering the paint on the hood of your car with the turbo so close to the hood? I think it looks great, just hope that you install some asbestous jamies around that monster. Thanks for the pics.
|
i love this and i'm dying to see how you get on with a t3/04...
thats potentially some crazy ass hp. i wouldn't be quite as worried about the heat as i would about my crappy transmission. although you will probably need some sort of shield - not just for the paint but you don't wanna cook the radiator!! ...still drooling over those pics :D |
nice tires and rims

Some pics of the prototype downpipe install. *Warning* 56k'ers beware.

It does look like a good setup. Have you had it on the dyno yet? What are the projected wheel Hpand Tq? I was also wondering about the fuel management issue and reliability. Would this kit come with everything you need? I might be leaning twords a P5 if this works out, but at the moment I am sorry but the power is really, really not there.:( Thanks for the info!!
