1st gen turbo idea

Has anyone toyed with the idea of a sequential turbo setup with two VJ-14 or VJ-16's?

If one could fabricate the parts, and move necessary components out of the engine bay to make room, would it be worth the trouble?

Thanks.

From what I've heard, twin turbo setups on 4cyls are merely for 'show'. With only one bank of cylnders, a custom exhaust manifold would be much more work than it's worth. I belive a well tuned single turbo would be much better than a TT setup, especially on a small engine like ours. That's why even the big boys (Supra, RX7) convert to a single-large turbo for some REAL hp.

Plus isn't sequential like on smaller turbo and one larger one in a TT setup? If you used two of the same turbo, it wouldn't make a difference in the world, they'd both spool up at the same time.

funkdaddy is right....a sequential twin turbos isnt a translation like 2 turbo's=more power...it creates the power across a wider power band since the smaller turbo spools up earlier and the bigger turbo creates more peak power but would have serious lag by itself....2 turbos of the same size would make more power than just one, however the setup would be way more expensive than just a single large turbo that makes the same amount of power.... my .02

im not sure how a twin turbo is set up? any help? i take it the exhaust manifold goes from 4-2, one for each turbo? and then the exhaust from the turbo gets piped from 2-1 downpipe n goes out back...2 intakes on a twin turbo, one into each turbo, but then the compressed air is where im lost. does it go into one intake manifold across all 4 cylinders? or 2 manifolds, one for each half of the cylinder bank? if it goes into one manifold how does it get piped into there? are their two holes in the manifold or does it get piped into one pipe going into the tb/manifold? i think thats how it works...my 2 manifold idea is just too...stupid lol mucho confusing..very confusing
