Zymol cleaner wax
 

I bought a bottle of Zymol cleaner wax for $20 CAN today at my local Canadian Tire and let me tell you, it was worth every penny I paid. The shine is incredible considering its a water based liquid, and is easy to apply. Only a small amount is required for the wet reflective look. I can even see the reflection of the irregularities of the road on the hood,even on a silver car. It is that reflective.

I used to use NuFinish Polish, it provided an amazing shine also, and its water beeding properties are spectacular. I then switched to Mothers Carnuba Cleaner Wax, great shine, good durability, reading from various sources that NuFinish will screw up paint in the long run. Then lastly to Zymol. I have to say that in terms of shine, Zymol beats both by quite a wide margin. It also removes the many swirl marks I made on the car from waxing. The car now looks like the day I picked her up from the dealer. Going to see how it holds up in the rain. :)

IIRC, the zymol wax that you find in CanTire is basically rebottled Turtle Wax. I'll find some more info for you on this tomorrow when Autopia should hopefully be back up.

Before I discovered Autopia and learned about Zaino (the best IMO), I was using Zymol Cleaner Wax as well. It gives a good, smooth shine. Unfortunately, in my experience, it doesn't last very long. But it is quick and easy to apply, so I gave it to my parents and they love it.

So, where is the proof? I've been using Zymol for years and very happy with it. That $20 bottle wax was compared to Zaino side by side and lost just by tiny margin-I believe it wasn't lasting that long, but it beat other waxes by large margin.

Anyway, I'm just saying that I thought that there are 2 different brands of Zymol you can get...one's basically Turtle Wax, the other is the good stuff.

IIRC, zymol is carnauba based and that's why it won't last as long as a polymer like Zaino.

BTW, I never said there was anything wrong w/ Zymol, other than being expensive.

I love the shine of carnauba waxes in the morning....smells like Victory :D

That was my point...I was trying to save people money. I was trying to point out that if Zymol was re-bottled turtle wax, you could get the turtle wax for cheaper and get the same results.

BTW...how do you like the price of the NSX Zymol....$144/ bottle!! :eek:

i was just about to get the zymol from checker auto for a little testing. hmmm, maybe i should stick to my meguiar's? (honestly, i am not disappointed at all in the shine i get) but then again, i do upkeep my ride weekly...

I'll do a test-I have pack of very cheap wax(Turtle) and wax half hood with it and half hood with Zymol. Car is parked outside and sun is ruthless right now, so we'll see what is better.

You can apply Zymol and Turtle Wax in full sunlight? I thought most waxes, except for some like Zaino, had to be applied in shade.

No, I meant that wax coat is getting depleted very fast-sun is ruthless in general.
So here's the experiment:
Passenger half-Turtle
Drivers-Zymol
Edge of the hood up to the first rib on driver's side-Eagle one.
Well....shine wise it's all bloody same....from $20 and $5 waxes
When I put water on the hood it looks exctly the same on both sides. It's same to the touch, but Eagle One side is slickier(it's synthetic)

that's what i use.
got it for 15 bucks at pep boys
only applied it once, couldn't tell much of a difference... maybe it's because my car was already pretty shiny at the time.

the applying was very easy though
i think i did it right... just took me half an hour for the whole car
