Wiring remote wires to a relay
 

Okay, dumb question, but I have 4 components (2 amps, a crossover, and a signal processor) and am going to use a relay for the remote wires and was wondering how it is done. Can any one help me with this one? I don't know if I would use the CD players remote to plug in to the relay and then run the other remote wires in to it or if there is another way of doing it. I am clueless about what to do. Thanks!

I wouldn't bother with a relay for the remote wires. They're not drawing any real current, just simply a signal wire. Use a decent gauge wire (~12 ga.), and piggy back off of each component to the next from the cd player's remote output.

with 4 components a relay is a good idea, but depending on the components used, not always needed. You can daisy chain them together without a relay or wire the relay as follows:

85 - remote wire from radio (+)
86 - chassis ground (-)
87a - not used
87 - 12V+ constant or switched, 5amp fused
30 - ouput to compontents

I found a diagram on www.the12volt.com and did exactly what it said. Works like a charm! If you have too many components to your remote on your head unit, you can fry it, something I don't want to do. Thanks everyone.
