will this 300w amp be enough to power subs?
 

hi, wanna put some subs in, maybe 2 10's wondering if this amp is anygood,

it says 75wms? wuts the diff between rms and max? would i have to hook this up some other way to get the 150w/channel? or just plug it into a sub and i have 150w from each channel?

the diff between rms and peak

rms is the constant power that can be handled with out any damage done
peak means the max power that can go through for a short period of time

depending on what kind of subs u wanna run ull hafta adjust ur amp.. its better to go bigger and tune your system down so you dont tax anything, if u know what i mean. run it at 1/4 volume instead of 3/4 volume for the same loudness. youll get better clearity and a prolonged (spelling) life of all componants.

i had a 900w rockford mono channel running 2 10's bridged. and it was super fine, but i dont know how much ur willing to shell out.

What speakers are you using?
You can bridge the amp to get 300 watts out of them. Then you can wire the subs up in parellel in order for them to look like a 2 ohm load so you can get double the power out of them. So each sub will see 300 watts effectivly making it be like 600 watts.

i did the second one... wired the subs in parellel. i was using MTX roadthunder 6000, they pounded like crazy, but on sunday they were stolen along with my deck

i want this amp to power hopefully 2 10's
as for the subs, well, im going cheap on the entire thing
the cheapest subs i can find are,

ok you said i can get 300w if i bridge them, you mean 150w/channel, also rms is 75w so will that amp be strong enough to power 2 10's?

i may also just buy a whole box with 2 10's for like 150, but not sure what they are rated and what brand.

im not to smart on the whole car audio thing aswell, but i know what i had and i know it pounded like crazy.

id say if your not 100% sure go to an audio store.. not like futureshop or a&b sound.. they are crap and they will try and hose you.. if u wanna run just the subs only off the amp. i think your best to get a 400 or 500 watt mono channel amp and put that power in to one sub.. then run wires from one sub to the other. so if u can picture it... ull have 4 wires running into one sub and 2 wires out of the other one going into the first sub. make sense? i think mono amps are a bit cheaper aswell.

if you do this way. make sure u get a 4 ohm amp and 2 2 ohm subs. that way youll get 2 ohms running to each sub, which is ideal running for 2 ohm subs. i hope i didnt lose you, lol. any questions feel free to list them and ill do my best on the knowlege that ive aquired.

nono, you didn't loose me, your talking about bridging the subs to get the most power out of the amp,

and yes, getting a 1 channel mono amp would be a good idea, but im not going to spend 200-300cdn,

the whol point of this stereo is for it to be cheap, the amp i described will only cost $70 and the subs 100 each, or a box with subs for 150, not sure wut kind of subs though,

thats why i would just like to know if this amp would be able to power 2 10's? and do it well

ahhh i gotcha, i say since its so cheap.. giver sh!t and if it sounds not so good. put the power into just one sub. sometimes one is better than two. i think it should be fine.
