whats wrong with my indiglo gauges?
ok, im at the gas station to show a young kid with a protege my gauges. i turn them on for a bout 3 seconds then out completely!
turn them off and on and switch from blue to geen and nothing. they have never done that in the year or so i had them on. i go home to check my fuse-fine,ground-fine, connections-fine. starting to get heated thinking i have to buy more and the hassle of putting them back in, turn my key on and try again for giggles and on like normal?????? i've read about others burning out, but i have never had indiglos on another car before so i dont know how or what they do when they burn out. i thought they would kinda go dull and dim till they finally shot or would just not blow out and not work at all. what is going on with them, any body have a clue?? having a bad day, earlier at a car show i had girls gone wild playin in my car with the stereo on little to long and drained the battery.:nono: should i be worried??????? thanks brian |
when I had APC indiglo gauges, they had a mind of their own. They'd be on for about half the time......sometimes they'd stay lit for hours, minutes, or just seconds. Reverse ones I got now from procarparts.com 6 months so far so good (knock on wood.) And I'm using the same box for these faces as I did for the APC ones.

APC = crap.

well i got EL gauges, got them on procarparts.com when they first come out.
they worked fine tonight like they normally do, but still hopin somebody can tell me what caused this? |
BMan, that is a nice looking Protege first off. Secondly, I am surprised of APC gauges. I was thinking (and say WAS thinking) of getting some, but if APC = Crap, I don't want the problems of them working on their own!! Off topic, but where did you get the spoiler? :D

well misterT,
i dont have apc gauges so i cant say anything about them at all. if i was you and was going to get some for certain, i would probably buy from another company. but thats my opion. i have E.L gauges if you do indeed get some and install your self make sure you read the horror stories of breaking needles. people say that the tach and speedo needles come off, i didnt want to chance it so i slit them and am very happy with that way. they arent that noticable and am pleased. even if the holes look big enuff and you are still worried, SLIT THEM!!! you dont want to be added to the got burnt list! they are not that hared to install though!(just getting over the needles) and the wing i got from mitch at protege5online when i got my kit. i am prolly selling it if you are interested? thanks brian UPDATE- gauges are operating properly but still want to know what happend?????? any help guys |
Hey wassup ull,
I just wanted to know if anyone knows where I can get a set of Indiglo gauges for the Protege LX with the tachometer.... I have looked around a hell lot and cant seem to find them anywhere.... anyone have any idea?? thanks |
|
thats why i was wondering if anyone have any idea... thanks very much though |
No problem. Not to break it to you but I don't think they make any for the Pro's without the tachometer.

hey... i wish that was for me...but alas, looks like i cant get one for my car....
never mind....my car still looks cool the way it is.... thanks everybody |

Whats up Bman, I had the same prob with the E.L. gauges when i had my accord. The craziest thing, turn on the car=gauges on. Turn the car off=blinking and flickering gauges. All the connections were good, i checked them like 20 times. That was it for me. I wont play around with the gauges anymore. I have a temper.

Not only APC sucks in some of their product line, but if you went out shopping for the CHEAPEST indiglos you mite of got one made like crap...sometimes you get what you pay for...you just have to do your research.
