What should I do? Stereo equipment and a couple other questions

I just got a mazda3 2004, and I like how the stereo looks, but I really would like some additional functionality, my old stereo (which I kept) does everything I can think off, and I'm not sure if to put that in, or to get an MP3 playable stock head unit, or to get the AUX in you can get to connect up to the stock 04 stereo. I would like to get at least mp3 ability but would be nice to get Sirius back in my car,

What would you do? (Change for after market stereo/get aux adapter/try to get new stock head unit able to play mp3's)

Does any 04 and up stereo work? Like maybe I could get a 05 with sat button and get the Sirius connector thing,

----------------------------------------

Also there’s a bunch of items on my display I cannot see :( I'm sure its because of missing equipment, I noticed that for 06 and 07 there’s 'key configs' to get some of that to work, haven’t found any for the 04 is there any?

Also a question on the trip a and b, I’m not sure what the differences are? The numbers are different but what do they tell me?

Ok that’s enough questions... thank you in advance for your responses.

So does your head have the AUX in?

no it doesnt, but there is thing you can buy to add to it, i found it last night (i was at home and links are there) but its this connector someone made up that plugs where the MD/TAPE player goes, so i guess when you click that you would than get the aux input

Yea, I know what you're talking about ...

I guess the question is, are you willing to install an aftermarket head that won't look as good as the factory piece in exchange for more features? That adaptor you found is probably the best bet if you like the factory look.

true, maybe ill just get the adapter thing (i found the site its on http://www.sylfex.com/products/AuxMod/ that is the mod to have auz in. i could possibly do that untill i feel i really want the other features i have a very nice aftermarket head unit, but not sure i want all the plastic cover that goes with it, to fit. Thank you for you reply :)

I have a question about subs....i want to add in either 2 10's or just 1...but the mazda3 dash is already nice enuf, and i think puttin in a deck would take away frum the beatiful interior that the mazda3 has...so is it possible to put subs in that work to the best of their ability without a deck?

best of their ability no!! but a line level converter is what you want to get if you dont want to change headunits...or just buy the kit that goes where the nav. is supposed to go and add a cd player there

So ill be able to have the subs workin and be able to keep the same headunit...and still be able to control the volume of the subs

yes you will have stock HU and the everything up front will be the same...you will still need an amp if you want it worth your while..you may have engine noise so i say dont shortcut on buying the invertor it will be money well spent...the saying you get what you pay definately takes place here..if you have anymore q's pm me so we dont take over mikesta's thread
