what do you guys think of this amp wiring kit?
 

This will be used to power 2 amps, around 650w, but Itll be 750w in the future, I'm getting thisamp wiring kit , what do you guys think?

One of the amps is PG tantrum 250.2 and Ill replace the other amp with a 4chanel tantrum amp soon. SQ is my main goal.

are you talking about the amps or the wiring kits? does the QSX have the same items as the one on the link?
I don't live in the US but my mother is going to visit my sister in miami next month, I'm going to order it online and have it sent to my sister's house, then my mom will bring it here when she comes back.
I'm also thinking about ordering mazda's aluminum/c.fiber dash kit, does any one know how big/heavy the package is?

*EDIT: I just checked, the QSX403 costs 52$ at sounddomain, but it's a single amp kit.

i dunno, with 650w and soon up to 750w, i'd still want to use 4ga. cable rather than the 8ga. that kit comes with. But overall it's a very nice kit.

When one considers you are importing the kit via
Soundomain,it is a great buy. The 4 guage is probably not nessicary, but would be a nice looking touch, and gives the infastructure for later additions or upgrades...

It comes with 4 gauge man...the 8 gauge is from the distribution block to the amps and the ground wire.

4 gauge primary power and 8 gauge ground? That's not a very good idea, and I have to wonder why sounddomain would even sell a kit like that - there's not even a dist. block for the grounds? I'm guessing they expect you to ground the amps separately, which I suppose is fine, but a distribution block on the gorund also can clean up the install a great deal.

The ground should always be at least the same gauge as the power - even though the power is 4 ga and then split to dual 8 ga, the ground should be the same - dual 8, combined to single 4 ga. main ground and power is the setup I have.

I'd definitely recomend knukonceptz stuff (I use it, and they have good customer service, also). Check out the website - it's good quality wire at very good prices. And if you bought a single 4 gauge kit, then picked up a few feeet of 8 gauge and a couple of distribution blocks separately, you're still gonna come out at about half the price of the PG kit.

4 gauge kit - $30
fused dist block - $11
non-fused block (for grounds) - $4
10 feet 8 gauge wire (should be enough, but it's only $.40 a foot!) $4

That's under $50 for a solid kit.

The thing is that I want to make a great SQ system, since PG is suposedly one of the best out there and both of my amps are going to be tantrums, I want to keep the whole PG "theme", they also look very nice.

I'm grounding each amp separately, if I get noise then I might try what you sugested.

I gotcha. But just know that the only real difference in most wire is the flexibility factor. Strand count and stuff like that vary very little, and any variations that DO exist generally make no real difference anyway. Many guys running serious wattage systems will actually buy welding machine cable for 1/0 gauge - it's MUCH cheaper. Less flexible and not flashy-looking for sure, but it gets the job done as well as anything. I can understand the "theme" - that's cool. But don't expect the PG wire to "sound" any better - it's just not true.

Another $$ saving idea - maybe get your wire cheaper (like knukonceptz) and use PG dist. blocks and such. You could even scrape the Knukonceptz name off the exposed sections of wire if you wanted to. Just a thought.

Nah, if you ground each amp separately (and directly) to the chassis, 8 ga is fine, because you're feeding the amps with 8 ga power (after you split).

I need some advice about the RCA interconects, the kit is for 2 amps, it comes with one 16ft pair of RCAs and a 3.25ft pair, I asume one goes from the HU to the first amp and the shorter one goes from the 1st amp to the second amp. why is that? I'm getting a HU with 3 pairs of outputs, front, rear and sub, don't I need 3 pairs of RCAs?

Not yet but I think I'm going to, Ill get a couple of aditional RCAs as well.

Yes, if your HU has 3 pairs of RCA outs, then you need 3 RCA interconnects.

If you're going to get additional RCAs, get some that are Unshielded Twisted Pair. They are pretty good in rejecting noise.

My Mazda
 

I am planning on ordering the single amp 4 gauge wiring kit that knukonceptz.com sells for 30 bucks. It comes with 20 feet of power cable and 5 meters of RCA cable. I have a Mazda Protege 90 LX and am planning on putting my new amp and sub in the trunk. Will this kit be long enough? I would think so, but just wanted to check.
