What amp to use?? for JLAudio W6 v2

Just wiring my 2 new JL audio W6 v2. Umm I am wondering if a Rockford Fosgate Punch 400 S Amp bridgeable is enough to power these Subs. Or am I just wasting my time and risk blowing my subs? Help....I don'y anything about amp to sub.

get the jl audio 1000/1 or 500/1. jl makes really good amps but they are pretty expensive.

The w6v2's take 400 watts RMS each. That RF amp is not up to the task. It'll only be enough to power one sub. Either get a second amp for the other one, or find an amp that'll lay out 800 watts RMS or more.

And FYI - 99% of the time, subs blow because people UNDERpower them - not overpower. They try to run a 300 watts sub with an amp that really can't put out that kind of power, crank the amp gains allllllllll the way up, sending a distorted signal to the subs - this distortion is what kills subs (and speakers, too).

So in your case, I'd try to find an amp that'll put out 1000 watts or so - then you don't need to run the amp at full-blast to get the 800 you need - you can run the amp easy and not risk blowing anything up.

BTW - your subs are dual voice coil, 4 ohms each - and if you don't know what all that stuff means, better keep asking questions! If you buy the wrong amp and then hook all those terminals up in the wrong way - *poof* goes your amp.

Look for an amp that will do 1000 watts x 1 @ 4 ohms, OR an amp that'll do 1000 watts x 1 @ 1 ohm. I'd suggest looking at the JBL BP1200.1 - under $300, and it'll do what you want.
