Is there any way to change the front blinkers to a different colour for P5?
 

i really dun like those two little orange lights that turn on when the headlights are on, is there any way i can change the colour or the bulb or it. or is it a shell and cant be changed. thanks in advance. ;)

I'm assuming you're talking about the 2001/2002 or P5 blinkers...

Yes, the bulb can be changed. The manual should have a clear diagram to show you how it's done.

HOWEVER, seeing as how the LAW says those are to be amber (yellow) don't be REAL surprised if/when you get pulled over and get a ticket.

sorry, i m talking about a P5, you know those two ugly blinkers mounted with the whole headlight set. so is it still possible. btw, canada, well at least bc, allows you to have different colour blinkers, just not outrageous colours i think.

I agree with Lazy_Mfg here man. I checked the laws, and up here in Canada, with respect to blinkers, the front may be either Amber or White (I installed Eurolite Fusion Blue blinkers, but they look white when on.) The rear must be either Amber or Red. Yes, you can change the blinkers, however you MUST have amber side-marker lights on the front. Not just the bulb, but the reflector as well. As such, we can't change over to the clear side-markers.

Show me exactly where in the Alberta Highway Traffic Act it says that your front blinkers MUST be amber. Otherwise, please don't jump to conclusions.

NewfieP5 has blue ones installed. But up here it doesn't matter. Yes they are illegal. No, they won't pull you over here.

Yes, they will nail you in BC for having them. Vancouver I know for sure.

In Colorado the front turn signals must be any color from white to amber (which includes yellow). The rear turn signals have to be any color from amber to red.

Green, blue, purple, etc. are illegal and you can get a traffic ticket for it.

You also have to have no more than two seperate back up lights that turn on when the vehicle is in reverse, and cannot be on if the vehicle is in forward motion.

Interestingly enough, in this state, you must also have a lamp that illuminates the rear license plate so that the plate is rendered "clearly visible" from a distance of fifty feet to rear. This light must be on whenever the headlights are turned on.

By extension, this also means that those license plate covers that obstruct the view of the license plate are also illegal. And actually, this is covered under another law.

All of the above things are considered class B traffic infractions. Class B include points against your license and a fine.

Most of the traffic law in Colorado is designed to allow a police officer to pull you over for any reason what so ever, including having "altered suspension." Especially when all the officer needs is a "reasonable suspicion" that you committed a traffic violation. All that means is that an officer only has to think you committed a traffic violation to pull you over.

Pretty neat stuff when you think about. All you have to do is drive a vehicle one foot and you've probably committed some sort of traffic violation.

Please keep in mind this post pertains to Colorado law only, your state may vary. Check your local traffic laws to know for sure.

heres my front blinkers..when the cops warn me or I get a ticket i'll take em out 2 min job...

its the same old story tint the same way....ive had em in now for 4+ months..nothing and i drive by police all the time.

according to US DOT specs, a turn signal or headlamp must use lights that are white in the light spectrum. amazingly, orange is actually in the white spectrum, so technically you can change the colour, as long as it stays in the white spectrum.

however, state laws may not allow this and may force a more strict code upon vehicles such as requiring turn signals to be in fact, orange. best is to go to the library and look up the law(s).
