Would u a regular body shop do sunroof installs or do i have to goto a specific shop?

OKAY I might understand this is a stupid question. But not everyone is smart like everyone else. I ask a simple question and you guys are too lazy to answera simple question but you took enouogh time to look at this. Thanks.

i would assume that if you found the right bodyshop they'd install one for you. try to find a shop that does custom work, not one that is a collision repair shop.

Well there surely is enough people who looked at it and you are going to tell me every single one of them didnt know. Thats a little hard to believe. The majority of people here are pricks where if a stupid question or some basic question is asked they wont try to help the guy out they sit there and bash to tell them to search or not answer at all. We are here to get help and to share our ideas not to show whos better or who stupid. Thats my opinion so if im a bitch then damb what the fuck are you.

but on to your sunroof.

me personnally, i wouldn't get an aftermarket one, cuz i've seen too many leak. should've gotten it withe car. i evan had a '93 protege EX, and the roof was metal back then and it actually had rust bubbles and it was only 3 yrs old...when i traded her in.

I’ve had both. The factory roof is usually a little tighter to start with, but over time will leak and very expensive to repair. If you find a good top/shop they can install an after-market sunroof as well as, or better than the factory. Look for a shop that does convertible tops in the phone book. In my area it is about $900.00 to have a fully electric one installed in a Protégé. A pop up can be installed for much less.

The after-market roof will have a few added features that the factory roof doesn’t have usually. Most of the aftermarket roofs have an open/close switch that is better in my opinion. Most of the after-market roofs will have better support in the long run. In general, the aftermarket sunroofs are darker and have better UV glass in them. Most will have a nifty overhead console that will have added lights or sunglass case holder. There is usually a better warranty with the after-market roof. Normally they give a lifetime warranty on the parts (except the weather strip that seals the glass).

Most of the after-market roofs are built to go into many different cars and thus have a longer production life. Parts are available for a longer time and they cost less in the after-market roofs usually.

Find a shop that is local. Wind leaks are common in after-market sunroofs until they get it sealed correctly. Once it is right it will most likely work for several years without any problems. The seal around the glass (both factory and after-market) will usually last about 3 years before it starts to have wind noise and needs to be replaced before 5 years (usually about $200.00 for after-market and about $500.00 for factory).

Well, maybe it is possible they saw your headline, which only said "Sunroof Help" but didn't have an answer for your question. I thought you might be asking about how to operate the factory one or about wind noise, but I know nothing about custom shops or after-market sunroofs.

My advice, which you don't need to take of course, is that you be a little patient, appreciate the help you do get, and don't insult the majority of people, especially when you want their help. Just a thought....

can i give u a piece of advice? when u post wait a day or 2. u get no response then bump it back to the top and try again. i dont know about all this name calling on here. pretty immature.. i understand how u feel about asking quesitons some people deem as easy and alot of time newbies get busted out with the use the search feature stupid.. kinda sucks.. but live and learn.
as far as your question goes it really depends if u want a motorized sunroof, a pop up junky one or a rat top that rolls back.. the pop ups usually leak and the motorized ones are a grip. also remember your payin for paint after wards..
the rag top thing is cool i guess but i dont like it.. if i was u id find a shop that specializes in like lowriders. they seem to be more into stuff that like that than a import shop would be

I would definelty go to a custom shop. I had a sunroof installed at a custom shop on my lowrider. Oversized sunroof, checked every six months for leaks (from shop), guaranteed for life, $350.00. You can't beat a deal like that.

umm i want an aftermarket sun/moonroof... but the fact that i have to see ppl cut my wife's roof open to fit one in... i havee to reconsider it.... stupid mazda... if msp is a very sporty sedan.. they should have had a moonroof to come with it!

I wouldn't recommend putting an aftermarket sunroof into a sports car like the MSP. The reason it doesnt have one is cause the weakens the rigidity of the car for tight cornering.

Also if you do take some tight corners you will have more chances of having problems with your sunroof. Thats just my .02$

Sunroofs take some of the chassis stiffness away, defeating the purpose of the excellent suspension of the MSP. Type R's didn't have them...

Congratulations, as a relative newbie, you've managed to alienate yourself from most people (many of whom I've managed to receive help from just by reading this board) for a good long time after this temper tantrum of yours (heck, I'll just laugh and snicker when I see your board name, then avoid that post all together).

Oh, and that second part of your little snit - was that even in English (may I suggest a dictionary/thesaurus, or better yet, how about waiting to graduate from high school before trying out your spelling skills)?
