SPL and 3 1/2" drop
I have Mazda Protegé ES GT 2001 and I walk in any time with 500 lbs of all it necessary to make SPL in the trunk of my Protegé. i have 3 1/2" drop with the stock coils springs and 3 1/4" with my Apex coils springs. Suggestions largely appreciated!

After hours upon hours of trying to decifer this I have come to the conclusion that hes asking if 500lbs would make his car rub.
But then again im just guessing! |
he weighs 500 pounds or something? lol, i think what he's trying to say is that he may have up to 500 pounds worth of equipment in his trunk for SPL competition, and with all the equipment mounting up, his car drops 3 1/2 inches on the stock springs and 3 1/4 with his after market Apex coil springs. it's a very familiar thing losing that much height in the back end of the car when carrying MORE than the manufacturer naturally intended. in this case, NO, it's not recommended to carry 500 lbs in your trunk whether it be for picking up garden mulch from home depot, or going to a competition and entering the SPL contest. i guess his worry is that there is too much saggin in the rear of his car because of all the weight?? i have no clue, but thats my educated guess. what are you lookin for dude, a lift kit? lol

If all the translations are correct, then he is running into one of the big problems of cars built for serious competition, they lose their ability to be useful cars in daily life! That is why the Sentra I have set up for SQ is not a daily driver, it is a garage queen. Thats why I am already shopping for a replacement for the 2004 Mazdaspeed I am getting prepared to gut and rebuild as a SQ car. When you meet folks who say their competition car is also a daily driver, you have just introduced yourself to someone who has compromised totally thier definition of what a daily driver is, and can do for them...:rolleyes:
So Mr. Mazda SPL, feel free to add ;the weight and go for, just be careful on those railroad crossings!:eek: |
