Good to know... Sir.
If nothing else i'll have the
generous infomation you have
provided.
On another note you say that
the sedan have speaker cutouts
in the rear doors, but no speakers.
I haven't took the doors off yet.
But I know there is a pair of woofers
underneath.
I have a 03' LX. I'm guessing it's
midbass, as only low notes generate
from the speaker.

Hi,
I have a friend who has a 2000 Protege ES with the 'Premium sound in it right now (the CD and Tape double din size thingy).

She wants to put in a aftermarket deck, so according to the chart above.

The wiring harness I need is either going to be the
Metra: 70-7901
Scosche: MA02

and the kit I need will be either
Metra: 99-5510, 99-5512, or 99-5700
Scosche: FM2157

Are those the correct numbers for her car and system? which do you guys like better Metra or Scosche?

Are the special tools needed to remove the factory deck in that year?

Thanks
Chris.

Purpose....please report back on this....as to my knowledge the standard DX, LX, and ES do not have speakers in the rear doors...but DO have them on the rear deck.

the reason the doors have the cuts outs is the fact that the rear doors on the sedans are the EXACT same doors that are on the rear of the P5....and the P5 has rear door speakers.

hello iamcacophobic and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have.

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

the "keys" on the side go in about 3/4 to 1 inch.....as I remember.

if you are having trouble with the HOME MADE tools...as they work but are not PERFECT...you can go to somewhere like Walmart or Autozone and get TWO pair of the FORD U shaped headunit removal tools. IF you do that...one end will be inserted into the small hole and the other end will stick into the oblong opening in the middle between the two round holes. but only the end that goes into the ROUND hole actually engages anything. a pair of the ford tools cost about 4 or 5 bucks...so you would be out 8 to 10 greenbacks.
