Speaker install

I have a quick question for all you audio experts. I got a 10" sub from my buddy the other day and I was wondering if it's possible to install it in a P5 without having to replace my deck. It's one of those little bazooka lookin subs that has an amp built into it, and for my needs that's pretty much all I need. I didn't wanna spend too much money and I just want a little thump to bob my head to, so a 10" w/ build amp seemed kinda perfect to me. I would like to keep the stock 6CD changer, so is this gonna be possible?

Well I'm no expert but is your deck factory? If it is then you won't get much out of the 10". I experienced that with my speakers when I installed them. I replaced the stock speakers, front doors and rear and I had the stock HU. It was soundin' alot better than before but when I got the deck installed...it was music to my ears, so to speak.

Yea I know what you mean, but I'm not too concerned about it. All I want is a little kick in the background, not something that'll make my car rattle. My only concern is whether I can install it at all ..

I don't see why this would not be possible. You should be able to install it.

It has a built in amp. Go for it! You will use the speaker inputs from the rears to get a signal to it.

Is there a good how-to someplace that I can take a look at to get familiar with how to hook up my amp to the head unit? Also, aren't I gonna have to go through the firewall to get to my battery as well? I might end up payin one of my buddies at Best Buy to do it for me, but I'd like to try it myself too.

Yep, there are how-tos on getting the power cable through the firewall.

The amp should have speaker level inputs. You splice into the rears.

Not beyond the average do-it-yerselfer...

^^
start a new thread for the wheels Ill help you out.

Im pretty sure the bazookas will take strait line level inputs. Just take a random length of wire and run it off the rear speakers.
The power is a bit tricky just be sure to buy a kit from walmart( its the cheapest) Then run the cable under the door sills. No problems.

Thanks for the help guys. I'll take a look around for a couple how-tos and I'm sure I'll be back if I get more questions. Otherwise, I'll let ya know how everything works out!
