Side Markers

I'm seeing all these picture of 2002's with nice new side markers on them, and I'm jealous. The 2001's don't have them and I want them, or something like them. Has anyone tried, or successfully installed side markers on their car? I don't want anything too complicated, or expensive, but at the same time I don't want it to look like crap.

the mid year (2002.5) Protege5's came out with side markers.....so its a dealer part. All you would need to do is buy the lights......cut the holes in your fenders.....mount the lights....and splice the power (hot) wire into your running lights.

pretty simple.....if you don't mind cutting holes in your fenders.

Yeah, see that's a problem, that is all way out of my league, so I guess I would have to rely on a professional, or at least an expert to do it for me. Then I would cost me a pretty penny I suppose, and the cost wouldn't be worth the mod...it does look damn sweet though.

I work for an AutoBody shop and I also would like to put side markers in my fenders. I don't want to drill any holes in my fenders because the chance for rust to form around the hole is too great, even if I paint all bare metal. I think I wait untill I can buy two new fenders with factory holes and then swap the fenders!!!

My car is over on cardomain under davecameron. I had a tuning shop here in town do the job for me, cost 40.00 and was great. I watched, they did templates to get in the same spot, and used a clear sealer on the hole when done. Their opinion was that it would not rust in the first place, but did this to assure the customers. The outfit is three Vietmanese who had work at dealerships, Honda, BMW, and Mazda/Ford, and they really knew their stuff. The lights are wired to come on with the driving parking lights, and flash when the signals are used, headlights or not. I really like them, and am glad I had someone who knows what they are doing work the install for me on this one! Check you local tuner shops-

I've been thinking about rewiring mine to come on with the parking lights also and not just turn signals. I just need to find the time to get around to it.

Wow 40 bucks is a good deal, that would be like 60-65 Cdn. I wish I knew a good shop around here that would do it...I bet my dealer would do it, but they would charge an arm and a leg...criminal, car dealers are criminals, and this coming from a guy who works for a major car company.
