shift knob
 

hey guys, im looking for a shift knob that will screw on to the factory threads. i dont want one that gets tightened down with those little screws on the side bc they never seem to work. any suggestions?

I know they have a bad rap but i bought one for about 55$ can., billet alum. and i love it. Althought cold as fuck in the winter.

Get a cover for it. They have them at http://www.knobmeister.com/kglove.htm

Also someone might check to see if we have the same thread as hondas or any of the other imports, cause if we do then you would have a much larger selection to choose from for a shifter knob. I just ended up get a custom short shifter and put on a custom knob.

Red racer: I ended up getting my windows tinted later, looks great. God a lot of other stuff done also, i'll email you later.

i just tough it out, after a while it just warms up. just like my amstaff, i'll never buy him a coat. it looks dumb and it its that cold i don'tneed to be out either.

thanks guys. i checked out all of the suggestions, but im still not sure. voodoo seems to be popular, but a little to plain for what i was looking for. what do you guys think about MOMO. i know they are expensive, but i dont mind paying for it. will momo knobs fit? anybody have any experience with these. the one i like is the momo sphere specifically if that matters.

the momo doesn't thread onto the shifter like a stock knob would. however, the voodoo does! (and greatly increases the feel of the shifter!)

if you have a standard Protege or the P-5....the shifter threads are 10mm X 1.25 thread pitch.....the MP3's are different...and I am not sure what the MSP's are either.....anyway....and it seems that all the aftermarket short shifters such as B&M, Kartboy, and the others are the same thread as the stock shifter.....just make sure that any knob that you get has that thread size insert in it so that it will work properly.

I bought a momo shift knob and performance leather boot for my kartboy shifter. I love it. It is a bit of a pain to put together but well worth it in my opinion. I love the look and feel of the shift knob.

it attaches using the little set screws with a supplied allen wrench. I know some people have had problems with it but mine was tightly secured, i added a little Loctite, and it hasn't budged an inch.


NOTE*****

A momo performance boot looks great but be aware that significant modifications need to be made to make it fit nicely. It comes with an elastic around the base to secure it. As anyone knows in the P5 elastic is not used. You have to cut the boot down and cut slits in it to attach it. Not too bad but if you mess up and cut too much, like me :(, you need to cut some of the stiching and make a little gusset to expand the base to fit.

All in all a worthwhile endevor.

I have a MOMO and love it. It does use the little black screws. Mine also came with an assortment of little black rubber sleeves that fit up inside the knob itself and then screws onto the threads. You can pick the size you need. With that and the screws you will get a very secure fit. I say go with the MOMO. Its worth the $
