Hey...how hard is it to take off the side moldings...and how long did it take?

Proto2k July-30th-2003 10:27 PM

I just recently removed mine. I used this stuff called Goof Off, you can get it at Walmart in the paint area. It is not a hard thing to do, you just have to have patience as it takes a long time to remove all the glue. I spent a total of about 3-4 hours on the process. Hope this helps, and this is a worthwhile thing to do to your car.

Great...thanks a lot.

I took mine off as well. I used the goof off and it works fairly well. It took me about 4-5 hours to do mine.

I bought some stuff called wipe away, but it didnt seem to work very well. But i didnt work it for hours.

it's a little hard work, been on it for like 7 hours (on and off and on and off)... i'm about to grow some blisters as i can feel it.... ohh... but the result are sweet.

Well worth it. Used heat gun and stuff like goo gone, but better - orange stuff at Walmart near the bug spray. It comes in a windex-looking bottle...

What did you guys use to take it off? Just your fingers?

P5Mazda August-3rd-2003 12:31 PM

<<What did you guys use to take it off? Just your fingers?>>

yeah, pretty much... but it can be a pain in ass... after a while, i used a terry's towel wrapping around the finger and go from there.... if you want to do something like this, be prepare and have a few hours to do this mod. this is the far cheap mod i ever done.

icynelly August-4th-2003 12:23 AM

I used a terry towel soaked in goof off to make it soft and easy to take off. Then slowly but surely peel it off. It will be very sticky though.

nai8o5 August-4th-2003 04:51 PM

i peeled a small section off of the side molding and using a standard white terry cloth soaked in water and "oops" to get the sticky stuff off and i noticed tiny tiny scratches in the paint, anyone else get scratches? i don't want to continue if i'm gonna have a line down each side of the car with little scratches...........
