shaved off my side moldings!!

took off the black side moldings.....I know I have higher likeyhood of dings, but damn it looks good..much cleaner....just used some fishing line, got underneath it and "sawed" them off....then went back and used some wd-40 and a plastic card to scrape off the double sided tape left behind....took some elbow grease to get it clean, but it looks good!!!...will post some pics soon

I've been wanting to do that for awhile now. I just never got around my laziness. Post some pics soon.

The longer you wait, the harder it will be. I did mine a year after the purchase. It has been the hardest thing I have done to my car :cookoo:

I like the painted side moldings better than the black. If I had black ones I would take them off.

A friend of mine with a civic actually wants to add black side molding to his car. I keep telling him it wont look good but he still wants to do it.

I did it to my car after 3 years!

It took a while to get the sitcky tape off. I'll tell you this though, Goo Gone worked a lot better for me than WD-40. Plus Goo Gone has a nice citrus scent unlike WD-40 which gets you pretty high after awhile, but some people that are into that kind of thang might want to use the WD-40.

so then, they are only attached with double sided tape? no holes right?

not sure how to insert an image, I usually attach stuff in the other forum. Anyway this should be a pic of my car with the moldings off, very clean.

Armed with my moms hair dryed, a Cosco membership card and some skill, I removed the side moldings on my P5.

Conclusion: I like the look without them.

Also: I took a look at the dents in my mom's P5 and the has 2 biger ones at the very first bend of the dor closest to the window, and 2 more right in the middle of the dor.....so, those side mordings won't help much.

Thankfuly I have no dents at all, just a scratch in the lover part of the front bumper. that happend 2 weeks after I got my car. The kids in the street told me that a silver car with frovers on both sides of the front fenders was parked in front of me. (location Vancouver, Canada)

PS: I hate IDIOTS.
