Seat Height Adjustments

Hi

My wife is now driving our Mazda 3 (2009) she is 5.6" and I need to find a way to raise the driver seat height without expending a lot of money.

I called Mazda and they say it would cost me over a 1000 bucks to add the height adjustment to the seat. But I'm not willing to pay that much.

I was thinking to add some washers to the bolts that hold metal base of the seat.

Any ideas?

What else can I do to raise the driver seat?

thanks

Alex

There is a slight height adjustment, which pivots the seat more than anything else. I didn't think 5'6 would be a problem, then again long leg / short torso could change a lot too.

If I remember right, the seat bolts to the track with no unusual angles, meaning if you unbolt the seat from its track you could add some spacers. Though you may have to get longer bolts and make sure the material is strong & won't flex under a side load (I.E. accident) so it remains safe. If you use washers, their height will allow them to flex when stressed, so something that's a cross multiple bolts front to back, or a rectangular frame would be preferred.
I'd suggest something like this - http://www.mcmaster.com/#88935k55/=e6aaue
Though you may get by with a layer or two of plywood strips.
